The Galway Science & Technology Festival Exhibition App will help you navigate through this wonderful Exhibition exploring over 80 interactive stands and 30 shows and workshops on the NUI Galway campus. The times of the shows and workshops and a brief description of each event are included to help you plan your day. The detailed map of NUI Galway will aid you find each event around the Campus and also where you can buy refreshments, etc. A layout plan of the exhibition stands located in Bailey Allen Hall is also included to help you locate the various exhibition stands by the local companies and educational bodies that will be exhibiting.
Welcome to the 2013 Galway Science & Technology Festival and the Final Day Exhibition at NUI Galway, we are now celebrating our 16th year of existence and have a wonderful Festival Programme lined up. The theme for this year’s Festival and National Science Week is “Exploring the Xtra-Ordinary”.
This year’s Festival will bring shows/events & workshops to over 135 schools throughout the two week period encompassing c.20,000 students – we have an array of shows and workshops including our regular favourites of Sue McGrath, Dr Ken, James Soper and Bubble Magic and some new and exciting events including the Bug Doctor; Science of Sound and Lego Education. We are very excited to have Active Robot’s NAO humanoid robot joining our Festival, NAO is a programmable, 57-cm tall humanoid robot with a wide and feature rich sensorial network, on board Intel Atom™ processor and all advanced, state of the art technology and he will be featuring at our Exhibition Day at NUI Galway.
This Final Day Exhibition, Sunday 24th November, will see an additional c.20,000 students, parents and the public enjoy a fantastic family day out – all free of charge thanks to our sponsors. This year’s Exhibition promises to be a fantastic family day out - with exhibits by all our sponsors and also stands by local primary and secondary schools. We are delighted to have students from Dominican College, Galway who recently won the John Hooper Poster Competition and also the students from Kinsale Community College who won the BT Young Scientist and went on to win the European Union Young Scientist; Edel Browne from the Presentation College, Athenry who won the individual prize at the BT Young Scientist and the.
