About this app

The agro-meteorological Monitoring System ABC Group (smaABC) completed 13 years of operation in June 2017. Throughout this period, farmers and ranchers associates, technical consultants and Agricultural Cooperatives and Producers of Arapoti (Capal), Friesland (Bata) and Castrolanda received operationally information on regional climatology, monitoring (agro) meteorological, weather and climate forecasting, om order to reduce risk in decision-making processes based on meteorological information.

Through smaABC website (http://sma.fundacaoabc.org.br) between December 2015 and December 2016 369 413 page views were recorded, with an average time spent on the site about 00: 02: 15h, one increased 41% order over the same period last year. Faced with such demand for information (agro) weather, ABC Foundation decided to make available exclusively to the associated Cooperative ABC smaABC the application, version 1.0 in April 2014, with the University of Florida support.

The following describes the main features of version 1.0 of smaABC application:

    • Registration of one or more farms through the aid of a map;

    • Association of each farm with the nearest meteorological station;

    • Registration of one or more plots belonging to each farm;

    • For each block, the user must inform the culture, the texture of the soil, the planting date and some more data;

    • Based on this information, the application will update every interval of 60 minutes, information such as accumulated rainfall, drought index or water stress, maximum and minimum temperature, degrees accumulated days and occurrence of some extreme weather events from planting date to the moment, for every registered plot;

From September 2017, the Agrometeorologia Team ABC Foundation developed version 2.0 of smaABC application, including new features such as:
