The Fire, Weather & Avalanche Center (FWAC) Wildfire Map app is a great tool for checking for wildfires--big or small--across the country. In addition to large wildfire incidents, our map also incorporates smoke checks, prescribed burns, and smaller wildfires that you usually don't hear about because they're only a couple acres in size.

The information is great, when I can get it, but it's often incredibly frustrating to navigate. It can take minutes for the map to even start loading and then another minute or more to actually appear. Adjusting menu items may or may not provide a response. I repeatedly restart the app to try to get something. Uninstalled/reinstalled, no help. UPDATE... While I had a lot of trouble with this in the beginning, it all of a sudden has been working flawlessly and I upped to 5 star.

I think this map has great potential and I do really like the design of it. However, the lack of accurate updates on some of the reported wildfires is disappointing. It's clear some fires are being actively updated, then you click on others that are marked as active and quickly spreading only to see that it was last updated a month ago or longer, which, obviously and disappointingly, makes the map quite inaccurate.

Tammy, thanks for leaving a review of our app. The fire data within the app and our online map is updated hourly by our servers. However, we pull information for numerous government agencies and, unfortunately, they don't always update information on their end. A wealth of information unmatched by any other app or group of apps that I've found so far. I'm not sure where the bad ratings came from, as I have only seen fast load times and full weather and wildfire information in the blink of an eye. Perhaps it is the user's phone model, operating system, the cache is full or it's just that we live in a society where people expect everything immediately and are irritated when they have to wait a few seconds. Either way amazing app Dev
