The application IRMA_SYS LIMITS developed by the Good Agricultural Practices GSSE in order to facilitate the assessment of the quantities of water for irrigation based on the approach outlined in the Ministerial Decision No. F.16 / 6631 (FEK B '428 02/06/1989) "Determining minimum and maximum limits of the quantities necessary for the rational use of water in irrigation." This approach is based on the method of Blaney and Criddle. 1992 issued by the Ministry of Agriculture document "Modernization of the methodology of calculation of water needs of the plants used in georgotechnikes studies of land improvement and adaptation to the Greek conditions" (Ref. Ref. 120 344 11.2.1992), which proposed using newer methods.

Currently, the generally accepted approach assessment of water needs of the crops is Penman-Monteith method, which is described in the art irrigation reference No. 56 of FAO. Ibid mentioned as an alternative -where limitations knowledge; the Hargreaves-Samani method. Both of these methods can be applied in Greece using CropWat FAO software.
