About this app

This most-downloaded app from Hazelden Publishing offers daily thoughts, meditations, and prayers for those in recovery from alcohol and other drugs.

Since 1954, the words of Twenty-Four Hours a Day have become a stable force in the recovery of many individuals throughout the world. With more than 6.5 million copies of the text in print, Twenty-Four Hours a Day offers guidance for those living without alcohol or other drugs. Millions rely on these words as a spiritual resource that has practical applications to fit the daily life of those in recovery.

Part of the Sanskrit proverb quoted in the app, “For yesterday is but a dream, and tomorrow is only a vision,” has become one of the basic building blocks for a life of sobriety. In addition to a thought, meditation, and prayer for each day of the year, this app also contains the Serenity Prayer, the Twelve Steps, and the Twelve Traditions of Alcoholics Anonymous. Twenty-Four Hours a Day is a simple yet effective aid to help anyone relate the Twelve Steps to everyday life and will help those in AA or NA find the power to stay sober.

As someone with 5+ years of soberity this is a great tool to have on your phone. I used to struggle with morning reading/meditation but having a book right on my phone has really helped with that. I also have a reminder set every morning when I wake up and then a notification shows up on my phone. The only thing I'm not a fan of in this book is it does seem very religion based with some of the readings. They do use the word God a lot too. However I've to take what I need and leave the rest.

The app is formatted exactly like the book which is ideal for me. I really enjoy the ability to mark favorite passages and recall them at will. As stated earlier this is usually a paid app. Its currently being offered free of charge during our high stress times. There are NO ADS in this app.

It provides the Twenty-Four Hours A Day writings in a convenient app which is great in and of itself but, as an added bonus, I get a notification each day as a reminder to do my reading. Without which, in early recovery especially, I often forget. It's a free yet invaluable resource.
