Drawing from millions of wildlife observations on iNaturalist, Seek shows you lists of commonly recorded insects, birds, plants, amphibians, and more in your area. Scan the environment with the Seek Camera to identify organisms using the tree of life. Add different species to your observations and learn all about them in the process! The more observations you make, the more badges you’ll earn!

This is a great app for families who want to spend more time exploring nature together, and for anyone who wants to learn more about the life all around them.

KID-SAFE

Seek does not require registration and does not collect any user data by default. Some user data will be collected if you choose to sign in with an iNaturalist account, but you must be over 13 or have your parents permission to do so.

Seek will ask permission to turn on location services, but your location is obscured to respect your privacy while still allowing species suggestions from your general area. Your precise location is never stored in the app or sent to iNaturalist unless you sign in to your iNaturalist account and submit your observations.

Our image recognition technology is based on observations submitted to iNaturalist.org and partner sites, and identified by the iNaturalist community.

amazing app The camera works so much better than it did before with this app. However and this might be a storage problembit doesn't tell me if it is; rarely even though I take a picture while it's at species it doesn't seem to be able to actually accept it and log it. sometimes I just need to wait longer than normal sometimes it doesn't accept it at all and I need to take a new picture after getting back to species

I have had this app for years and used to love it, but since recent updates it's barely usable. It jumps the gun and makes identifications way too fast and so it's usually wrong. Before it even focuses the camera on the thing I'm trying to ID, it grabs some random blob of color and claims it's a random exotic species. I suspect they added or updated an AI model, but it's so frustrating to use now and most times I just give up. I'm very disappointed.

Too buggy (pun intended) When taking a picture it freezes up very often and you have to close the app. By then whatever you are trying to identify is gone. And considering you usually have to have your phone almost on top of whatever it is, it makes you miss quite a few things 7/29/26...it happen yet again. Missed logging a species because the app froze and the thing got away before I could reset and take another picture. Deleting the app
