For writers, learners, teachers and those interested in languages: The Digital Dictionary of the German Language (DWDS) is the largest dictionary of contemporary German. It offers comprehensive and scientifically reliable lexical information, free of charge and without advertising. With the app you can look up definitions, usage examples, information on spelling, grammar and etymology as well as synonyms and typical word combinations for around 260,000 keywords and phrases offline at any time - from A like “a cappella” to Z like “zürnen”.

This app is the offline version of the portal www.dwds.de, where you can also access word statistics, image and audio material, glossaries and editorial articles as well as research in comprehensive text corpora and other dictionaries.

Excellent dictionary! Very complete and thorough. ONLY one thing needs improvement in the App (compared with the web page): the pronunciation opens a pup-up window showing the link to the audio. This is slow and one even refrain from using the feature. Please, streamline it. The sound should directly reproduce upon touching (clicking) the speaker symbol.

Really good app. Pronunciations, synonyms. It explains in German language, so if that difficult, use ather apps with it. By explaining in German, you learn more accurately. I like it, Großartig.
