If choose to update - you can NO longer play music and close the browser as before. On top of that? It's RIDICULOUSLY SLOW!! I use Firefox on my PC at home and work. The add-ons are great. I wanted to use it as my default browser on my phone, but only use it periodically as the pages take forever to download. (Both my phone browser and Chrome have no problem downloading pages. Fix the speed and you have 5 stars.)

This is a great browser mainly because of the privacy focused design and its ability to use extentions. It's reasonably fast and pretty reliable. However, the user interface could be improved. The address bar and navigation should be placed at the bottom of the screen so that it can be easily reached. It would be great if they could add full screen browsing as well: I don't need to see the Android status bar while I browse. Finally, it's scandalous that, in this day and age, bookmarks can't be sorted.

Not impressed, (still). There's still no way to edit the bookmarks and how do you get it to show the bookmarks toolbar and where's the 'Home' button? I'm on a page and can't get off it to my home page or my bookmarks. Firefox for Windows and Linux are great, why can't you make the Android version look and behave like the windows/Linux version. Oh!, It's slower than opera as well. It takes, on average, 6 to 7 seconds longer to load the Radio Times page. F- Could Do Better!

Are you guys listening to what I do on the internet? Strated seeing icon for speaker and web site visited in notification bar. Acts more like Win10 Edge browser. Now that I think about it, sounds more like tracking. Time for a new BRAVE browser. 💩💩💩EDIT: Now we have to sign up/log in to use extensions!!! You people have lost your minds and integrity to your loyal users. I asume this will soon apply to the desktop version as well. Who ever thought of this 💩 and approved it, should be fired. 💩💩💩💩 EDIT:Still don't know why you feel your app needs the use of microphone/record in your permissions.

Much better. they seem to have fixed a lot with this update. for those complaining, get a new device or look up a tutorial on how to clean your cache/dalvik cache. my galaxy s2 and new galaxy a5 (2017) are quick on this version (the a5 is significantly faster as its much newer and and has a more powerful processor)
I hate politics
I've tried Firefox for Android many times and I always hated it because it loads so slow. I decided to try it again recently and I was born away how smooth and fluid the UI is, very well made app. Loading times were faster than chrome, everything was just a much more pleasant experience. Thank you Mozilla!

Only ever used this app for the feature where I could listen to YouTube and do something else while doing that. Now the music stops as soon as I go out if the tab, loosing the only reason I'd choose Firefox other others. It was a cool feature that I relied on, dick move for removing it. Cuz I totally needed something to make my day even worse. Why would you even do that the only people I know who use Firefox use it for this feature alone
Gets worse with every update. Why do I now have to give permissions for camera and microphone to be able to select files to upload? Uninstalling from my phone, tablet, laptop and desktop. You should just give up Mozilla, you're far, far behind every other browser, and you're getting farther behind every time you release an update. Firefox is a slow, unstable pile of rubbish. Shame.
Slow rendering. Horrendous RAM usage - 330MB with 1 tab open, sync account linked, no ABP or Ghostery used and yet this amount of RAM used. As others have declared, bookmarking for Firefox for Android is awful. I want a mobile bookmarks category with the ability to save/sort to desktop bookmarks. Please don't force me to go back to Chrome. Microsoft already forced me to leave SwiftKey. :'(

Hello Lee Riley. Thank you for the feedback, it is important to us as this helps us move forward and inform our product team of the issues our users face. If you have not already, please check out our support site and get in touch with our community support team, if necessary. mzl.la/1J65fYU Please leave us an updated review if this was helpful.^at Firefox has no rivals when it comes to open source and non profit but it is still refusing to integrate adblocking by default even though adblocking extensions are by far the most downloaded add-on for more than 10 years already. By refusing this opportunity to change the web Firefox will continue to loose its market share to chrome, too bad.
very solid and complete app for secure, private web surfing /bookmarks/password management/master password/ syncing across multiple platforms & Devices.. I've come to trust this app and its developers over 3 years of using its key features especially syncing everything back to normal after a failed update wipes out all user data and forces factory reset.
I really like Firefox for PC but for some reason the newest update for my Samsung Galaxy Tab E is very glitchy and slow. The flash portions of every webpage are freezing up. Maybe its the Tab but when i try Chrome there is no issues. Hopefully fixed next update.
It's got a vulpine form burning in eternal torment as a mascot. It's pain and suffering allow for a secure and enjoyable browsing experience. Perhaps if other browsers lit animals on fire, they migh approach the majesty that is this application. Seriously though. It's a solid browser; well made, and quite nice. Also, as far as I know, mozilla's not actually lighting animals on fire. I mean, it's possible, but not really probable that that's what they get up to.
I use Firefox on my computer, and I love it. However, the Android version is maddening in its sluggish performance. Despite the fact that I really like the fact that I can run it from my external SD card (unlike Chrome), I'll likely be uninstalling Firefox before the weekend is over. This slooooow performance is not a new issue (based on the Web queries I did, users have been complaining about it for at least three years), but it appears to be one that Mozilla chooses to ignore. 😔
since 3-5 updates firefox is slow, never loads websites or crashes on my 4 android devices, works good but not great on my pc, pc version has gotten slower lately. have used firefox browser since around the time Netscape browser was active. I'd hate to quit using FF, but if it's getting 2b as bad as chrome with bloat. it's time to say goodbye. I'm extremely disappointed with something I have used for ages!
My prefered browser on pc but on android it's really bad. Bad bookmarks management and no save link as option. In chrome I just have to press and hold. And it can't view pdf have to use chrome for that as well, just to mention a few. Firefox is just really bad on android.
Why would you get rid of the ability to play audio in the background (although I know how to get around it) ... That was the main reason I used the app.. The user interface is very ugly and looks dated. It is also a slow running app compared to Chrome... It will be deleted after this review.
Browser. Seems to be pretty good. I use it on my laptop, notebook and desktop computer because I prefer it's features to IE. I love the security it comes standard with. I'm changing my above statement as I'm not at all happy with firefox. Recently I have a major issue with youtube and firefox. For some odd reason I can't watch vidoe via youtube through firefox. Every time I try,I get a weird grey box over the bottom portion of the vidoe. Sound is ok but video is useless! What's going on?
Used to be a Dependable browser I don't know what they've done to it , but after multiple reinstalls I'm deleting it permanently, constantly not responding much slower than other browsers to load pages. Maybe get rid of some of all your bells and whistles and stick to making a solid browser
Crashes to the home screen CONSTANTLY. Even with no more than two tabs open. No error message, no option to submit a crash report (like on the desktop version), nothing. Just dies completely. Guess it's time to find a replacement browser for my Galaxy Core Prime. Used to work well enough, albeit slowly. Not so anymore.
I totally agree with "a Google user's review" about the app getting terribly worse with every single update. Clicking on a link the first time only "pseudo-loads" meaning I have to tap on a link twice. And there are many other annoying issues with this update. It's a shame. Firefox wouldn't be any comparable with the likes of UC or Dolphin browsers if the developers keep going this way. I sincerely recommend that everyone thinking of updating to this current version SHOULD NOT DO SO.
Last time I gave 5 stars, gone down to 2 due to speed issues. Thanks for the hard work Firefox mind you. Unfortunately unlike you the browser doesn't need to sit down and have a rest.
Only reason I use this on my tablets and phone now is its ability to sync with my desktop Firefox. However, that sync is still rather buggy, and recently it has just started crashing at random, hence only 3 stars. Have no doubt it will improve with time as its desktop version has steadily,
Hi team firefox, I have started facing a lag when quitting Firefox browser. It takes comes back to the default page and remains the same/unresponsive for some time. Then it closes by itself. Otherwise doing great job, keep it up.
Great to have a mobile browser that supports Adblock and Ghostery but good golly it's slow. Not consistently but quite often takes 30 secs or more to load a simple newspaper website or similar. Frustrating but I guess that's the price of getting away from Google (even if Chrome is lightning fast by comparison).
Honestly, the rating I'm giving it is far too kind. Admittedly a bit bias, only because Firefox is my go-to base. The problems, it's at times really slow, frequently will not load up the pages. it's refresh rate is piss poor and that's only when it actually decided to refresh the page, when I do refresh it, it goes back a fair few pages and starts up there instead of the page I'm on. it likes to crash far too often, close to constantly, and way too inanely. This app is faulty, and really needs some Serious Maitenence, not the minor tid-bits the updates are only addressing of which do nothing to fix it. I mean complete overhaul maitenence. I do give this a fair raising, but I do Not recommend it. Not until it's fixed up enough to not be considered defected.
It is good. Maybe making 2 versions can be better? Firefox lite and full, the lite ver will be only the basic firefox (no addons) and the full will be the one you can use some addons just like in the pc. Some users just never use addons anyway, and they expect fast & simple browser.
My previous review seems to have disappeared but the battery drain issue is a foreground issue. On a fully charged battery just opening it, pulling a couple of pages and then closing it drains 2% of the battery (Or 26mAh drawing 670mA). This is way too much.
When I finish browsing I like to kill my browser. I don't want it lurking in the background eating my data & using phone resources when not in use. Ohhh Goodie.... Now you've fucked php working properly! FFS.... Sort it out or byebye.
Whilst it may have it's glitches very occasionally its head and shoulders the best browser. Far more secure and privacy-aware than chrome (don't forget about:config) although I wish there were more add-ons available for the mobile version - ublock origin is still there
Latest update just kills one of its unique selling point. YouTube mobile won't play with screen off. Do you guys even use the app the you develop? Changes like these without an alternative seems to show that you barely use the app
Extremely slow, disappointed. Clicking on bookmarks does not work, I have to tap and hold and then open on new tab. Downloaded it because I love using FF on desktop & it's very customizable like the desktop version but it is literally 5X slower than Chrome. I have not tried other browsers but I expected FF to be at least close to Chrome in terms of speed.
Altough there is no end to my desires but this is the Best browser I ever found(and I wonder why I was so late). Good in speed, nice Interface and over all user friendly. And I just fell in love with the option to save pages as .pdf for work and project related matters. AWESOME!!!
Two things. 1. Prominently display Master & Password manager parameters e.g. max length & characters allowed when using feature. It could be a questiomouse over anything and the option to dismiss tip permanently. 2. Make pop-up notification size, shape display time and placement customizable.
Firefox for Android has come a long long way. Where Firefox was once a bulky slow app it has become the speediest most full featured browser I have ever used on Android. It has the sleekest bookmark ui. Makes using tabs a snap and has the best gesture features of any mobile browser I've used. All in all I can't recommend it enough.
Used to be decent but lately with each update the app loses more and more of even its most basic functions. Constant freezes and crashes and like another user said, you can't even properly exit the app with this latest update without the app freezing. Will probably switch over to another browser once I sync my bookmarks. Disappointed with this app. Firefox works fine on my laptop but not here...
I use Samsung galaxy a5 2017. Same happening here just like on my pc eat the memory and unable to Handel website with videos and gif like Facebook. I also have noticed the same problem on my pc windows 10 8gb memory i5 cpu. Memory. Cpu use dramatically goes up when you scroll down on Facebook or just a simple YouTube website. No error code given just freeze the firefox. I don't use add-on or any flash. So I think it's time for the guys to debug this program and find where is the bug.
I think you guys should make it so I can disable the deceptive site popup on a website so that there isn't a annoying popup every webpage and the content isn't broken. I do love Firefox and the feature but it makes me upset that I can't use that website like I used to. ={ If you have a way to fix this please tell.
Background YouTube playback is still supported on the desktop site, just check request desktop site on settings. I am using it for ad free browsing and I'll take any performance hit for that.
The only thing that is off-putting about this app is that there is no single handed adjustable zoom feature, it's either 2 finger (need two hands) or double tap and hope it zooms to the right level. I'm going to keep using chrome until there's a single hand adjustable zoom.
