Ratings and reviews

While this is a solid access to NPR programming, one is not able to have their playlist be the default when the app starts through Android Auto. Also, once a downloaded show ends, rather going to the next playlist item, the app bounces to NPR news. While the app functions, I cannot recommend it at this time.

Update: The app launches on some random program despite clearing the cache, force stop and relaunch ): As many reviewers have reported, the app launches on its own on Android phones whenever the phone exits Bluetooth mode. I've had to uninstall the app multiple times for this reason. I can't have NPR start playing out of the blue during meetings! This has been going on for at least 2 years. I don't understand why the developers are not addressing this major issue.

I deeply appreciate NPR. The one-star is for the NPR app itself - buggy, glitchy and very unreliable. Update 5-24-24 this app is still an awful mess. I really wish it worked. Update 8-29-24. Fresh install on a brand new phone. Still a mess. Update 1-15-25 playback often very slow to load (even with 5G connection), programs stop in the middle and restart. Still unreliable. Update 2-21-25 same.
