About this app

🔍 Scan, Discover & Compare Over 3 Million Food Products

The app allows to scan the 3 million products already contained in the free and open database Open Food Facts.
The app is collaborative. If we don't have the product, you can add pictures and data to get the Nutri-Score and NOVA score on food processing.

In short, we're kind of "the Wikipedia of food", as many have nicknamed the project. Open Food Facts has enabled the creation of over 100 apps like Date Limite, Yuka or FoodVisor.

To discover the volunteer-run Open Food Facts project, visit https://world.openfoodfacts.org/discover

🥦 Make Healthier Food Choices

➜ The Nutri-Score grade, from A to E : Nutritional quality
➜ The NOVA group, from 1 to 4 : Avoid ultra-processed foods (Group 4)

🌍 Join Our Mission for Food Transparency

➜ Open Food Facts is a food products database made by everyone, for everyone.
➜ You can use it to make better food choices, and as it is open data, anyone can re-use it for any purpose.
➜ You can start contributing today by adding a product from your fridge.
➜ Open Food Facts is a non-profit project developed by thousands of volunteers from around the world. We have lots of exciting projects you can contribute to in many different ways.

🏷️ Decode Food Labels with Ease

➜ Open Food Facts helps you decipher products labels. You will be able to find:
➜ carbon footprint (CO2 emissions) and packaging (as well as recycling instructions),
➜ Nutriscore (nutritional score), nutrients, fat / fat content, saturated fatty acids, carbohydrates, sugars, fiber, protein and salt and sodium.
➜ brands, allergens, labels (bio, gluten free, vegan, vegetarian, halal, kosher ...), traceability information (packaging codes, origins of ingredients)
➜ On wines and beers, you will find the alcohol content.

🔬 Backed by Science, Supporting Research

➜ We don't make up things. We rely on peer-reviewed science.
➜ The Nutri-Score has been created by the independent French team led by Professor Hercberg.
➜ The NOVA groups on food processing have been designed by the international team of Professor Monteiro.
➜ The additives synthesis is based on reviews by EFSA on exposure levels on food additives.
➜ The Open Food Facts community is collaborating with research teams across the planet to improve nutrition research that benefits all.

📶 Access Anywhere, Anytime

➜ You can add new products, even with bad or no Internet connection
➜ The app loads only the minimum to reduce data and battery consumption
➜ You don't need a camera to look up a product. You can also type the barcode if you lack a camera or have an issue with it.

🔒 Your food, your data. Privacy-Centric App

➜ Your data is yours, and is never sent online
➜ You can use the app anonymously
➜ You can export your scan history

🚨 Set Allergen Alerts

➜ Milk, Gluten, Eggs, Soybeans, Nuts, Fish, Celery, Mustard, Sulphur dioxide and sulphites, Peanuts, Sesame seeds, Crustaceans, Molluscs or Lupin allergy ?
➜ Speed up your shopping by doing an initial screening of your food with Open Food Facts.
➜ Be careful that the information may not be 100% accurate, and detection may not be 100% accurate. So always double check by yourself, with the packaging.

💰 Open Prices: Transparency on Food Costs

- Contribute to Price Transparency: Help build a more transparent food system by contributing price information. When you shop, add the price on the shelf, or at home, add the receipt. Eventually, we'll be able to monitor inflation, shrinkflation, cheapflation and more.

EXCELLENT JOB DEVELOPERS! This app is so easy to use FOR THE NON-TECH SAVY individuals, and it gives you organized information that is quick to read through but still very thorough (Ingredients, calories, health scale rating, & even an environmental rating)What a well-balanced and user-friendly app. I love that it doesn’t require a subscription and doesn't overload the user with annoying ads.

I find the new redesign much harder to use & navigate, and even missing the feature for which I installed it and used the most. I liked the previous design with the simple navigation bar at the bottom. The reason I first installed the app was because I am required to keep track of my carbs, and using the feature that calculates the nutrition info for a specific amount was extremely useful. If the feature does still exist, I can't find it, and the app is just overall hard to navigate.

Hi Nathan, sorry the new design is not working for you. We are still working on perfecting it, so we appreciate your feedback. Hopefully you can still find our website useful. Best, Open Food Facts team

Interesting concept, and lots of useful information. The user interface is a little confusing initially, and when you scan a product, you have to find that product in your scan history to get more details about it (or I am missing something in the confusing and clunky interface). But the clear grading of products makes it easy to complete a grocery shopping trip without having to read a bunch of labels if you are buying products you have not bought before.
