Updated Review: been using this app for years. It's pretty good, I live in the southern Appalachians and oftentimes it will identify minor peaks rather than the name the larger mountain is known by, but it does a really good job at landscape generation and after you set your elevation you're able to see everything you might be interested to know. I was dismayed to see that it did not work on my new pixel 8, however the developer immediately addressed the bug and it's doing great. Thank you!

Your Pixel 8 device was just too good for PeakFinder! It was a classic but simple bug that caused PeakFinder to crash on your device. Because I was on vacation for the last two weeks I was not able to fix the error before today. Thanks for your patience.

NEEDS ability to tilt viewpoint angle or zoom out further! I often end up right at the foot of steep mountains (chugach, alaska, & talkeetna ranges), causing things like ephemeris function to be largely off-screen & impossible to view. Even so this is tied for my second favorite photography/scouting app. Nixed 2 stars as the above complaint greatly inhibits app functionality, easily 5 star app otherwise.

I was having similar problems with my PeakFinder, but it turns out many of them were a result of two "operator error" -problems. 1) Never seemed to show the peaks in the direction I was pointing. I could manually match peaks to what I (or the camera) was seeing, but never did it automatically. This turned out to be interference with my vehicle(s) and a magnetic catch. Moving away from both resolved the lines up perfectly. 2) Wasn't showing peaks near me. Not sure why not (PeakFinder shouldn't need to be told "find me"), but selecting the tiny GPS button in the app snapped immediately to the right surroundings. Really like the height adjustment tool, and getting great labeled photos of mountains here in the White Mountains.
