About this app

Peek Acuity allows anyone to measure visual acuity, which is one of the components of vision. It is designed by eye care professionals to be used to help identify people who need further examination by, for example, an optometrist or ophthalmologist. It is not intended to replace detailed examinations from a qualified eye health professional.

Peek Acuity:
Generates visual acuity scores accurately, rapidly and reliably. Scores are provided in standard units of Snellen (both metric (6/6) and imperial (20/20) values) and LogMAR (0.0);
Includes a new simulated representation that helps explain those scores to patients;
Includes equivalents of “count fingers”, “hand movement” and “light perception”;
Does NOT collect any personally identifiable data about you, or anyone else - it is not a medical device

It is important to keep the application up to date at all times so that you receive the latest technical updates. Older versions of the app may not function correctly on the latest operating systems.

Please ensure you perform the enforced manual calibration check, as described here, before using the application to measure visual acuity.

Peek Acuity is a standalone app which provides a measure of visual acuity and a visual representation of the result. Peek Solutions is a complete software and service package with support, data analysis, SMS reminder functionality and other features, currently only available to Peek partners.

Found out that one of my twins had an eye issue with this app during covid when we were worried about stepping out. When we later went to the doc, it corresponded quite well. It's very easy to use, and truly remarkable in bringing easy eye testing to almost everyone with a smartphone. The only minor issue is that you have to find out how to shake it when the letter is unreadable.

This needs more letters besides "E". After a little while you can come to recognize the shape of the letter and discern it's direction that way, even if the letter is blurry or ouf of focus. Instead of a shake feature, a "Cannot identify direction" button would be better

Thanks Hagen, for the "Tumbling E" see ISO18490:2015. It's a multilingual test and doesn't require literacy. We've achieved best results with the shake feature by holding the phone facing the participant and using the wrist to twist the device back & forth. We'll keep it in mind as we plan our future development of the app.

This app is good but it shows eyesight score after test as -0.3 and in simulation can't see this number so this glitch needs to be fixed

Thanks for the feedback; testing to -0.3 logMAR is performed when Android Developer Mode is enabled and is not something we intend to include in the simulation for now
