I was under the impression that if you take a picture of a plant that the app will identify the plant for you. This is not what the app does. I have extensive plant knowledge and experience with plants and was excited to see this app in action, so I instantly took a picture of an Emerald Green Arbrovitae to see if the app was on point. Unfortunately it doesn't identify plants for you. The app asked me what the plant was. Of course I already knew, I typed in the answer and that was that. Bottom line this app is just a collaboration of botany experts and botany curious individuals posting pictures. Essentially a Botany Instagram. Rated 3 stars.
Really useful for someone with at least a base knowledge of wild flori, wouldn't recommend for someone just starting out. I would suggest coupling it with a field guide, and always be sure you know what you have before eating or otherwise consuming anything you find outside. That being said this app is amazing and pretty accurate 9/10 would bang again
Very useful app. Just take a picture and get your answer. Google didn't work when attempting to learn what a pesky weed I'm my yard was, but thanks to this app I now know it's German madwort. A terrible nuisance!
I tried three native plants (Belgium) that grow in our wildlife garden. Stellaria holostea was identified as Bellis perennis. Lunaria rediviva was correctly identified. Fragaria moschata was identified as F. vesca. OK, the last error is quite normal, the differences are not readily evident, but the app shouldn't have seen the Stellaria as an Asteracea... It might be useful for people without any knowledge, but if you have a basic knowledge of the native European flora, you can do without...
I recently have gotten into beekeeping and I was curious as to some of the different kinds of flowers my bees were foraging on in our environment. After reading about this app on facebook i decided to give it a try. I LOVE It! Its helped me in being able to positively identify alot of the flowers around our farm i had NO idea what they were. I definitely recommend this app if you are interested in identifying plants you are unfamiliar with or just have completely no idea what it is. Happy Beekeeper Thanks!!!
Can you identify poison ivy and stinging nettle with this app? I tried just searching for both, and it didn't come up with anything.
