No point in buying regular scanners unless you're buying a dedicated canbus or proprietary manufacturer scanner. Using latest BAFX, wouldn't recommend generic ELM 327 as they're cheap and missing a lot of protocols. BAFX Works in over 15 cars I've tested. Can't recommend Torque pro enough.
The app is really good and extensive, with huge amoun of information from the ECU. I like it a lot but there's one thing that really bothers me and it's the Design. It looks really old on newer phones (Lollipop+ devices). I think that at least for pro versions it's design should be updated, to a new modern one, and I'm not talking about the dashboard, but the menus, UI, settings, etc.
Does the job pretty well I'm liking it and am using it all the time, really just one issue to stop it getting 5 stars: the web upload doesn't seem to work for me. Have pointed it at my HTTP endpoint, but getting no requests coming through. Upload status in the app seems to indicate uploads being in progress then just removed, rather than accounted for in 'sent' or 'failed', which remain at 0.
Paid for itself many times. Great app that has saved me time, money and repair shop bullshit as I'm able to use app info to educate myself prior to going in. Also able to keep trip logs/mileage for tax purposes. Thanks.
Lite for Free is great but the Pro blows my mind! I use an ELM327 sender that bluetooths to my tablet. But the pro version lets you graph, email, web store data, change limits... It is 100x the lite version. Then I built an Arduino with bluetooth and use Torque Pro for the display. It's fantastic! Unbelievable, Torque stores any value or values you want and uploads it to a web site where you can review your data. Shows a google map with the data below, RPM, speed, mpg, CHT, EGT... whatever. This is the most amazing app ever!
Works great Would be ideal if there was a way to see the current gear the transmission is in, i drive a semi auto so it would be handy for various reasons, other than that its great, used it to determine a misfire and which cylinder was misfiring, fixed the problem with a new coil pack, much cheaper than going to a garage.
**Polite Note!** There are currently a lot of clone adapters circulating that are broken/not working on the CANBUS protocol - if your vehicle isn't working, check the adapter if it's a clone(it may work on older vehicles though)
* Improve the fault log user interface/speed
* Improvements to the histogram display
* Variable support (R0, R1) to read raw data from the entire response
* Ease of use in the vehicle profile (no kbd popup)
* PID editor 'test button' improvements
Check/clear engine codes, view performance data, fuel economy, customize gauges.
