The city is home to the Diocesan Sanctuary of Our Lady of Aparecida, officially recognized by the Vatican as the second temple dedicated to the Patron Saint of Brazil. The 26-meter monument, erected in front of Lake Itaipu, is visited by pilgrims from all over southern Brazil and Paraguay.

The main pilgrimage takes place on October 12th, the Feast Day of Our Lady of Aparecida — one of the largest expressions of Catholic faith in western Paraná, with an open-air mass, procession, and blessing of the pilgrims.
