About this app

Palace is a free, easy-to-use e-reader app that lets you find, check out, and read or listen to books from your local library.

It’s been said that libraries are “palaces for the people” and the Palace app gives you instant access to your local “palace” any time, right from the palm of your hand.

All you need to sign up is your library card! And even if your library isn’t using Palace yet, you can still read more than 10,000 books--from children’s books to classics to foreign language books--for free from our Palace Bookshelf.

The Palace app is built and maintained by The Palace Project, a not-for-profit division of LYRASIS working in partnership with Digital Public Library of America with funding from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. For more, visit https://thepalaceproject.org.

Well, there are reviews dating back months about how audiobooks can not be played. I regret to inform you that I downloaded the app for the first time today, and audiobooks give an error message that they can not be played. No reason, no troubleshooting. I only use audiobooks unless I'm reading a graphic novel, so... the app is useless to me.

I was interested in the Banned Book Club, the only collection I thought I could check out from. After turning off several of my security settings to ensure the app (which was giving me vague geolocation errors) could find my location, my library card was denied. That's b/c my county isn't in the allowed list. This is despite the censorship efforts forcing my library to close. Palm Beach already had better access to these books than my county does! Sadly, though, there are no ebooks here for me.
