About this app

Learn electrical work the way you wire it. Electrician App by VoltageLab is an electrical training app for electricians, apprentices and students, built around the NEC. Study wiring, grounding, motors, load calculations and electrical theory with study plans, quizzes, guides, videos and a circuit simulator.

STUDY PLANS
Type a topic such as grounding and bonding, conduit fill or motor protection, and get a day-by-day plan. Each day has short lessons and a quick check at the end, so you always know what to study next.

QUIZZES THAT EXPLAIN THE ANSWER
Practice questions on any electrical topic, from Ohm's law to branch circuits. Every answer comes with a clear explanation and the code section it is based on, so you learn why, not just what.

ELECTRICAL GUIDES AND DIAGRAMS
Illustrated guides on wiring and installation, protection and grounding, control and switching, motors and transformers. Read a guide, then quiz yourself on it. Save guides to read offline on the job.

CIRCUIT SIMULATOR
Build circuits level by level. Place the battery, resistor and lamp, close the switch and watch voltage, current and resistance change. A safe way to understand electricity before you touch a live panel.

VIDEO LESSONS WITH QUIZZES
Watch electrical video lessons on motors, power systems and electrical machines. Short questions appear while you watch, so the key ideas stick.

STUDY THE NEC SECTION BY SECTION
Browse the code by area: definitions (Article 100), branch circuits (210), GFCI and AFCI protection, feeders (215), load calculations (220), services (230), overcurrent protection (240), grounding and bonding (250) and more. Each area is broken into quiz topics with their code references.

FLASHCARDS
Create a flashcard deck on any topic in seconds: voltage drop, ampacity, conductor sizing, electrical formulas. You can also build flashcards from your own notes, a PDF, a photo or a YouTube link.

TIMED PRACTICE TESTS
When you want a full run, take a timed practice test with multiple-choice and written questions, graded with worked answers. Useful for electrical licensing exam practice and for checking what you know.

YOUR STANDARD, YOUR CODE
Pick the standard you work under. The app is set up for the NEC and also supports the CEC, BS 7671, AS/NZS 3000 and IEC 60364, and quizzes, plans and answers follow your choice.

TOPICS COVERED
Electrical wiring and wiring diagrams, residential and commercial wiring, grounding and bonding, branch circuits and feeders, GFCI and AFCI protection, overcurrent protection, conduit fill, box fill, voltage drop, ampacity and conductor sizing, load calculations, services, motors and motor controls, transformers, three-phase power, Ohm's law and electrical formulas, electricity basics, AC and DC circuits, troubleshooting, solar PV and EV charging.

BUILT FOR
Electricians who want a quick daily refresher, electrical apprentices working through their training, journeyman and master candidates practicing for the licensing exam, electrical and engineering students, maintenance technicians, and anyone learning how electricity works.

Free to download. Some features need a Pro subscription.

Absolutely brilliant. The app contains vast amounts of material for anyone interested in everything electrical. Videos, articles, flashcards, and quizzes. I got the annual plan after trialling it for a few days, which is worth every penny. I'm currently using the individual learning plan, which gives you an in-depth look at a chosen topic. It has really helped with my studies to hopefully become an electrician. It's the best app I've come across.

it's like this entire app is vibe coded, was made by an AI, and never tested both all three sections I checked out were awful. the wiring simulator, would let you complete the first circuit but not checkmark it so that you could go to the next one. the NEC question weren't questions! it's like no one has even used this app

Thanks for the detailed feedback, Tim — VoltageLab is built in-house, not generated, but you found real bugs and I'm sorry they reached you. The simulator wasn't saving level completions, Both are fixed in the next update. If it works for you after 7.2.9, I'd really appreciate you updating your rating — and email voltagelabbd@gmail.com
