Fulfilled expectations I'm using it all the time as I learn French. I really like being able to hear the words spoken, but the sound is sometimes glitchy and takes a few seconds to load (leaving you wondering if you need to try again). Sometimes it's not loading at all. I wish there was some (discrete) indication that the sound is loading at the instant you press the sound button.
Needs a review option It's really a great app but it could be even better if there were a way to actually quiz yourself (i.e. flashcards) over words that you have bookmarked so you can easily review them instead of scrolling through the haphazard list. It also would help in that you wouldn't have to spend have your reviewing time having to scroll from the beginning every time you go back from a word and try to find the place where you were.
Needs back, forward and delete buttons for Android This app did wonders for my vocabulary when I lived in France and used it on an iPhone. However, the Android version is a bit clunky and most importantly misses the buttons when browsing history that made revision so easy on an iPhone. Please include them on the next version.
Best one for a serious learner of French Don't waste time on the others. There is no other app as comprehensive as Larousse. Only for people who want to know the nuances of the French language. Generally, I use only free apps, but this one has been the exception. For example, it uses the inter'l phonetics of French and it has a huge amount of idiomatic expressions not found in any of the other mobile apps.
Spontaneously uninstalls. I was a happy user for 2+ years. In mid Feb 2014 it spontaneously uninstalled; reinstalling it only lasts a short time. Same problem with the French only dictionary. Samsung phone Android 4.3. Help, Larousse. Ted Graham P.S. Still works on my iPad. A week later (3/7/14) something got fixed; back to 4 stars. April 28, 2014 update: still uninstalls; no response from Larousse; one star: sigh.
Lacking in quality For an app associated with what is probably the most eminent French dictionary, this app reeks of amateurish incompetence, from the poor design that simply takes chunks of text from the paper version and adds audio icons, to the complete lack of navigation aids and mobile-friendly features that are app staples. Even the search is incapable of returning results for conjugated forms of the verbs, only matches for the primary entries. You are paying a premium for the content, and the content alone. There is absolutely nothing here of benefit over buying the paper version of the dictionary.
