The Peel region of Western Australia is home to extraordinary geological landscapes, rich Bindjareb Noongar cultural history, and diverse flora and fauna. This app guides you through over 20 geo-sites across the region — from the Mandurah Channel Entrance and the vast Peel-Harvey Estuary system, to the ancient thrombolites of Lake Clifton, the historic Lake Clifton Lime Kiln, and the scenic Murray River Gorge.
Each site has been carefully researched and selected to align with Geopark criteria, covering three pillars of significance:
Abiotic — geology, landforms, and earth science
Biotic — native flora and fauna, ecological values
Cultural — Bindjareb Noongar Aboriginal heritage and European history

About the Geopark
The Binjareb-Peel Aspiring Geopark initiative is led by the Peel Development Commission in partnership with local geologist Sebastian Jones and award-winning tour guide Jamie Van Jones of Salt & Bush Eco Tours, with support from Bindjareb community leaders George Walley, Franklyn Nannup, and Theo Kearing. The project aims to foster recognition, respect, and conservation of the Peel region for the local community and visitors alike.
