Android as a platform for mobile phones is a good platform and has many advantages. However, it also has its drawbacks. One of them is deliberately implemented is the lack of control over when the application connects to the Internet. In the settings you can disable the ability to connect to the Internet through cellular networks, however, in this way, we deprive ourselves of the possibility of using MMSes. However, it is a simple solution. Just change the APN name for the connection and communication will be impossible. Not to have to manually edit the APN, and could automatically change the name, was just this program. One indication of the APN can be changed for any connection.
NOTE: The program can work poorly with other such programs, such as APN OnOff or APNDroid
NOTE2: The Android 4.0 + blocked the ability to save APN settings for cellular networks by external programs. Only the system programs have access to the APN configuration. The program installed as an external program, unfortunately, in these versions will not work.
Awsome! I've been using this app on my phone for a year now, and would be still using it, but i just got a update to Android 4.0.1 and the app says - that it won't be working any more - here comes the bills...
Solution ( ICS + Sense 4) for a must App This simple proggy is a must for anyone on a tight dataplan and/or for saving battery from being drained due to constant data feed. Simple solution to work around the ICS 4.0+ restriction. Titanium Backup. a) Open Titanium Backup b) Go to backup/restore tab Find APN Lock (CHR) on the list and long press on it till a menu appears c) Select Convert to system app Tada! The downturn is that you need Titanium Backup PRO, i.e. the paid version to covert to system app. It is however one of the apps that REALLY worths its money in full AND this trick should do it for all the progs that need to be system, come ICS. Tested and fully working on HTC Desire C. ICS 4.0.3, Sense 4.0
can't lock out all APNs 2 stars because you can only lock out the APNs that are currently accessible. So even if you lock everything off you may be surprised that one you've never seen before is now on.
Possible in Android 4... Some apps manage to do this in Android 4 - so for curious readers: "Notification Toggle" has a data toggle option which works perfectly for me in Android 4.1.1. ("Data Toggle" also, but "Notification Toggle" has a lot more options.) Although it's apparently broken, I'm giving 3 stars as thanks for excellent service when I was on Android 2.1.
