Tarnów’s Jewish cemetery is one of the biggest and most interesting Jewish burial grounds in Southern Poland. It is also one of the oldest cemeteries of this type, with illustrious history and exquisitely carved headstones. Located in the northern part of the city, it covers over 3.20 ha (32,000 m2) surrounded by a brick wall on three sides and a wrought-iron fence in the south. It has survived more than half from the eleven thousand of the burials. The oldest gravestones from the 16th century.
