Can't over-ride It's great, however do note that it over-rides both airline mode, or manually switching wifi off when you're in a cell it remembers. Note too that if you live, work or walk around in the same cell, which could be a mile wide in the countryside, it won't switch off. A bonus, if Polidea could do it, would be to triangulate position within the cell (like GoogleMaps can do without using GPS) so that if you move, say 100 meters from the registration point for wifi within that cell, it switches off.
I have many phones relegated to wifi Since the new ones become one of the five active lines and so far this has been malfunctioning since Jellybean, prompting overage messages on the dumb 2k data plan shoved to me from my unlimited plan, which wasn't a problem if wifi remained off. Two YouTube videos and you've used 75% of the new data plans. If y5 did the job, that ten dollars overage would not have happened.
Only does HALF of its job NEVER auto disconnects and when I try to disconnect manually it keeps turning back on. turns on when no Wifi in range. Config prob?? Bug? Please fix.
Would give 5 stars if you could edit the range which it thinks wifi is in range, right now I'm 15 blocks from home and my wifi is listed as 'nearby'.
Almost great Stays on when I don't need it to, like when I'm around familiar signals that it recognizes but that I still dont have access to - example: my office building. Every time I have to back out, go into the app, tell it to forget for that session and then go back into whatever I was trying to access.. Great for when I get home and the wi-fi automatically hooks in. Or when I leave and I'm just out and about with no known signals in range. Just a little tuning and this is tool that should come native in the core OS.
Works great on my Samsung Galaxy S3! (SCH-I535mbv via VZW) I recently discovered this app and have always wanted an app that would turn off my wifi based on my phone's knowledge of movement. In other words, stationery? turn on wifi. moving (per GPS)? turn off wifi. If only I could have my Bluetooth turned on for the opposite answers. But Y5's logic is the next best thing! My wifi radio turns off within a minute of two of losing connectivity. And similarly turns on when I'm back. I haven't tested with other wifi networks I access but I'm confident it will work there too. (August 1, 2013 five stars) Update (August 20, 2013): The first time I "unchecked" the Enabled box and then went back and re-enabled, the Y5 app ceased to function. It no longer turns off my wifi despite my location being far from known/saved networks. Even when I manually turn off my wifi, Y5 will force it back on, wasting my battery life. I contacted support but have not heard back from them. I will be uninstalling this app and lowering the rating to two stars as a result.
