About this app

A few words about the app
The mobiWAWA app is a free mobile application that provides city digital services and cards that entitle users to use discounts and rides on Warsaw public transport, including trams, buses and metro.
The application supports the Varsovian Card, the Student Card and various long-term tickets valid in the transport tariff.
The owner and administrator of the app is the City of Warsaw. The organisational unit that designed the application is the Information Technology Department.

Key benefits for the user
With the mobiWAWA app you can gain:
• access to discounts offered to holders of the Varsovian Card by various companies and institutions that cooperate with the city
• account with digital Student Card
• the ability to purchase a long-term ticket, extend its validity and activate it
• “Entrance to the metro” QR code functionality, which opens the gates to the Warsaw metro.

Warsaw Public Transport Tickets
The mobiWAWA app offers long-term public transport tickets in the capital city of Warsaw. You can purchase a ticket after registering your user account in the application and logging into it, then filling out your user profile, including attaching a photo, providing a contact phone number and selecting a ticket from the current offer.

Tickets are purchased electronically, via the mobiWAWA app and the online payment provider. Payments available in the app are fast, convenient and most importantly – safe.

Presentation of tickets during inspection

However, buying tickets is not everything! The mobiWAWA app also allows you to present them for inspection. On the active ticket, the user will find the “Ticket Control” button, which results in the display of their name and surname, current photo, ticket type, expiry date and QR code. This data screen shows itself to ticket controllers.

Catalogue of offers for holders of the Varsovian Card
Warsaw residents have the opportunity to use the offers of external entities that cooperate with the city as part of the Varsovian Card programme. Thanks to the mobile app, they can get acquainted with the details of a given offer and add it to their “favorite offers” and have it always at hand.
All offers can be found in the catalogue of offers dedicated to residents of Warsaw. You can use them by sharing a QR code – just choose a discount or service, generate its QR code and show it to a company or organization.
Digital Student Card for students of primary schools in the capital and Warsaw residents attending primary schools near Warsaw.

Thanks to the mobiWAWA app, students can show their entitlements to free rides in the area of the 1st and 2nd ticket zones of Warsaw public transport. This is enabled by an account with a digital student card – it is dedicated to those people who already have their Student Card.

Students of Warsaw primary schools and primary school students living in Warsaw commuting to schools outside Warsaw are entitled to free rides on the basis of the Student Card.

Opening the gates to the metro

The mobiWAWA app gives its users the opportunity to open the gates to the metro – if they have an active long-term ticket.

“Entrance to the metro” is a QR code, thanks to which the gates to the Warsaw metro are opened.

Wasted ~50 minutes trying to find out how to buy a long term ticket for a plastic card I have on hands - online. I used to do it in the past for sure. It seems like its generally impossible now - both in the browser or through this app. And using new in-app account is scary due to all those 'positive' comments around. Sad. Back to 'ticketomats' I go. NOTE: This is an issue partially because its not obvious that linking plastic card is not an option! I wasted time for creating unneeded account

Great concept, but not good for tourists. The app is only in Polish. We wanted to buy a 30 day transit pass; it required SMS verification, but I never received the message on two different US numbers that I tried.
