About this app

WhatsApp is the most popular personal messaging service in India, with more than 200 million users, the highest in the world . One of the biggest side effects of WhatsApp’s deep penetration, in societies across the world, especially developing countries, is its misuse as a medium to disseminate misinformation. 70+ incidents have led to deaths of 30+ people across India recently because people fell for misinformation they received on WhatsApp .

Our goal is tackle this spread of false content on WhatsApp. We have collected data from crowdsourced message reports and public groups. WhatsFarzi will provide you with instant results regarding the authenticity of text/images you receive on WhatsApp.

App Instructions:
1. You can check for tampered images by sharing your images from WhatsApp to WhatsFarzi directly.
2. For articles, copy the text of the article onto our app.

The articles/media that you share with us will be stored to improve our research and provide better results. Under no circumstances will your data be sold/released to any other third party organization/person. You data will be used only for research purposes. No individual details of users of the app will be shared, only aggregate information of the users and the content will be used for research purposed and in disseminating the results.
