The app is intended especially for team leaders and trainers but also for ambitious skiiers who would like to improve their technique. Short videos show how to execute the individual steps correctly from several different perspectives - in real time, slow motion and with diagrams. In order to study individual movement sequences in greater detail, it is possible to move the pictures both forwards and backwards individually.
Still pictures with explanatory texts illustrate the crucial phases of the movement and help users improve their technique so as to ski more efficiently.
Once the app has been downloaded, the videos can be played without an Internet connection. Thanks to its functional design, the app can be used directly on the ski trail.
It is very simple in use:
Choose temperature and snow type, click the button and receive a complete guide to how you should prepare your skis with grip wax.
As opposed to all other ski waxing apps I've tried, this app explains you both what wax [klister] to put as a base layer, what to put as a top layer, and what you should bring in your backpack or drink belt to ensure that you always have the grip wax you need during your trip.
There's even an FAQ menu with help on how to measure the kick zone, how to remove wax, how to avoid all kinds of waxing problems while skiing, and an overview of what equipment you will need.
At any time you may select language; so far it's available in Norwegian, Swedish, and English.
The app is completely independent of all the ski wax producer; the tips are based on the wax I would have used myself. So if I advice you to use Swix Blue Extra or Rode Rossa klister, I do NOT get any money from Swix or Rode.
More functions will appear in the future, so please let me know if there's anything you wish for.
PS. I do not offer any kind of weather reports. You can find that other places, or preferably just look out of your window and check the thermometer! Touching the snow with your hand is a good way to check the snow type. Tasting it is not recommended.
BTW, using the app does not require an internet connection.
Index terms: ski wax, grip wax, kick wax, cross-country skiing, xc skiing, nordic skiing, klister, ski tracks, ski trails.

In addition to the many high-quality trail maps, Ski TrailMaps also provides a trial of advanced features including resort webcams, weather forecasts and snow report. In short, Ski TrailMaps provides all the information you need to enjoy a great day on the slopes. To continue to enjoy these features you’ll be prompted to upgrade to Ski TrailMaps Pro once your trial has expired.
TrailMaps features more than 1,000 high-quality color maps of ski resorts from around the world. The geographical areas including all 10 of Canada's provinces, 14 European countries (from Andora to the United Kingdom), the United States (36 states from Alaska to Wyoming), South American (resorts in Argentina and Chile), and Oceania (resorts in Australia and New Zealand).
Once loaded, you may zoom in and out of the map in portrait or landscape mode using the plus and minus buttons. You may also scroll around with your device's touchpad. It's a handy feature when you want to get a close-up view of a map's legend and the mountain resort's specific details, such as topography, ski-run names and difficulty ratings, or the location of chair lifts and ski patrol huts.
Two icons appear at the top of the screen with each map download. Pressing on the snowflake-shaped button will provide you with up-to-date snow reports for the resort you're viewing. Similarly, selecting the mountain-shaped icon will allow you to see what the weather's doing at the resort with the area's most recent forecast.
With some resorts, a third, camera lens-shaped icon will also appear. Pressing on this selection will tap into a live webcam feed for a real-time look at a resort's conditions.
Also, the sheer size of some resorts means that they are often served with more than one map. If your resort of choice falls in this category, you'll be prompted to select your mobile device's menu button to download the additional maps.
