The Almada Murals Interpretive Center at Gares Marítimas is a space dedicated to the mural paintings that the artist José de Almada Negreiros made for two buildings with the function of maritime stations, designed by the architect Porfírio Pardal Monteiro and built in the 1940s.
The Interpretive Center tells the story of the paintings and the context of their execution, of the artist, and also the story of those who passed through these stations throughout the second half of the 20th century, in a journey through nine rooms: Cais, What the walls tell, Passages, Departures, Arrivals, Mural history, Says he said, Almada in Lisbon, Almada Negreiros Artista.
