About this app

Chrono is the official public transit app for the Greater Montréal area. It includes comprehensive information about exo bus and train services, the REM, RTL and STL buses, in addition to STM bus and metro services. It was developed to provide users with a complete mobility experience (including the purchase of transit fares via the OPUS reload functionality) and stress-free trips.

Plan ahead and manage all your trips in real time, purchase and load your transit fares onto your OPUS card. In addition to public transit modes, Chrono also allows you to optimize your trips with active and alternative modes of transportation—whether it’s cycling (with your own bike or a BIXI), car sharing (Communauto), walking, or river shuttles (in season).

Ratings and reviews

Just as other reviews have stated, the app reads the cards, allows you to purchase a fare, but then can't find the same card to load the fare. Tried this with three different cards, two different phones, and finally one loaded after taking off the phone case and about 10 minutes of moving the card around. I'll note that taking off the phone case is not required to read the cards. I have used the Opus En Ligne reader for years and it works great. I just used it to load all three cards in minutes.

This app is mainly only useful to recharge your Montreal transit pass. If you want to know the times of when your buses are coming or plan a route, it doesn't do that very well and it has a terrible layout and functionality for those things. But you can recharge your transit pass, so for that I use it and for everything else I use different apps.

I had five minutes before the bus arrived. I had no tickets left on my OPUS card. I knew I could purchase tickets from this app but I'd never done it before and the newness of it all, the possibility of glitches and finicky menus, concerned me—But there was nothing to be concerned about. Quick install. Step-by-step instructions. Google Pay integration, so I didn't have to insert card details. Excellent. Did everything as promised before my bus arrived.
