It's the worst streaming app that you can get. HBO, I don't know who made this app for you guys but it's horrible. Casting to Chromecast works 1/3 times, the app on my Nexus 6P is unoptimized, not at all phone friendly, with small buttons - and it freezes. It freezes almost every time!
The Jan 25th update not only didn't improve Chromecast functionality, but it rendered it useless! I have one Google Chromecast (1st gen) and a quite new Sony Android TV with built-in Chromecast. Recently, the app is able to connect to the stand-alone Chromecast, but unable to stream anything and is unable to connect to the built-in Chromecast! I would find it useful if the app were made to be installed also on Android TV directly!
Worst app in a long time. The performance is hilarious, the user experience is cumbersome. You cannot change your pass on mobile, cause they don't have this option on the mobile site. Somehow, my subscription expired, although I didn't change anything with my cable operator. The best part is that there is no option to renew it under my existing account, so i am forced to create a new account wit a different email. So stupid. Go with Netflix guys, no reason wasting time with these dinosaurs.
On gigabit connection it still plays 720p low quality video and highly pixelated on my 2560x1440 resolution tablet. Measured download speed on my tablet is 180Mbps. No battery info. Thumbnails sometimes are displayed and sometimes are black. The app is slugish and slow responsive.
Still can't imagine how HBO approved this app for their streaming platform. Worked enough to see some content which obviously is very good. Doesn't work for a while. Remains blocked in 'testing connection' dialog. A pity.
The app crashes on all my devices, it's simply unusable. I guess that if you want to watch a movie/tv show from HBO's list it's way more easier to use torrents...
