DuHanZi is an application that provides reading articles in both simplified and traditional Chinese, written by native speakers. The articles are divided on six levels of difficulty: beginner, elementary, intermediate, upper-intermediate, advanced and proficient, so you can choose the reading material according to your Chinese level. In each article, below the Chinese characters, pinyin and translation can be displayed at your will. You can also listen* to the text read-out-loud by the text-to-speech service. The audio can be paused, stopped and skipped to the part of text you want to listen. Words if touched, a pop up containing their translation will be appear, having the possibility to listen to its pronunciation, saving the word for later reference or share it.
In case you want to read in the dark without straining your eyes, a dark mode is available. This can be activated from Settings.
The application includes also a Favorite stories section and a Words section. The Words section contains a word of the day, saved and touched words.
Reading articles will be added frequently so that you always have new materials to test your knowledge on. The new added articles will be free until others are added. If you want to have access to all the articles (FREE + PREMIUM) you need to have an active subscription plan.
