Quick Users Manual:
When you have parked your car open Parkometer AR. The app will automatically start to locate your position. If you are inside a park house, parkade or parking garage (where a GPS signal is not available) Parkometer AR will search your position in the background and will take the first valid position fix once you leave the building.
If you are using a parking meter or a parking disc you can enter how long you are planning to park your car. Parkometer AR will track the time and notifies you with an alarm when it is time to return to your car. Thereby you can forget about time and concentrate solely on your shopping or other business.
When you want to return to your car Parkometer AR will assist you in many different ways to find the way back to your car. In the main view you see a compass in the upper part and a map in the lower part. The blue arrow in the compass area points in the direction of your car. In the center of the compass you see the remaining parking time and the distance to your car. The map shows the position of your car (blue parking sign) and your position (blue arrow). The blue arrow in the map points in the direction you are facing (meaning the direction you are pointing your device at). The map display adjusts automatically, so that both positions are always within the view.
You can also switch to the Augmented Reality (AR) view. This will project the position of your car inside the camera display. Hold the device as if you would take a shot of the street. On the display you will see an arrow, which shows you in what direction you should point the device. If you do so you, a parking symbol will appear, showing the exact position of the car and the distance. Follow this parking symbol and you will reach your car.
But wait, there is more :) Parkometer AR lets you also use your favorite navigation software to guide you back to your car. Just press the shortcut icon in the main view and Parkometer AR transfers all necessary coordinates to your navigation program. With this 3 options Parkometer AR is a versatile car locator and lets you choose your favorite method.
Parkometer AR allows you to install so called Homescreen Widgets on the desktop of your device. These will show you the remaining parking time and provide instant access to the application.

✩ This app is only as good as the inputs it gets from the sensors. Watch out for sensor accuracy problems, which are reported in a status bar that appears at the bottom of the screen. Also watch the compass wheel, which is displayed in the top left hand corner. Changes in the compass direction indicate magnetic interference if the change is not justified by a change in the orientation of the device.
✩ GPS is main tool used to determine location. Tests in London UK indicate that accuracy is usually around 10 to 20 metres. That means that the blue arrow may carry on pointing in the direction that you have been walking in when in fact it is time to turn. To try and mitigate this problem, the blue arrow flashes green when the device calculates that you are within 25 metres a turn, so watch out for this.

Augmented Reallity GPS Compass Map 3D displays a 3D compass that gets combined with the camera image. Your current location from GPS is shown on a separate map with adjustable size.
Unlike most other apps, the compass uses a very effective fusion and filtering algorithm to combine the values of the magnetic field sensor, the accelerometer and the gyroscope (if installed in your device) to achieve a maximum in precision and stability.
A magnetic field strength warning indicates the possible influence of metallic objects or power-lines.
You can define your own waypoints. In this case a green arrow on top of the compass always points towards the selected waypoint. (Geocaching is really fun with it :-)
New waypoints can be defined by a long-click on the map, by specifying latitude and longitude, or by specifying distance and heading from an existing waypoint.
You can also share your current location and the locations of your waypoints with your friends.
On devices with LG's Real3D technology (e.g. the LG P920 Optimus 3D or the LG P720 Optimus 3D Max), the app features a 3D stereoscopic view of the compass and the camera image.

Look at the landscape using the camera and labels are superimposed directly over the view. The labels can show the distance to the mountain peak, the bearing, and the height of the mountain.

You can switch to a Google Map view which also shows the peaks, plus your location and direction of view.
This is an experimental application that is extremely dependent on your GPS location and handset's compass bearing. If either are inaccurate then the names will appear in the wrong positions. Since the compass on many handsets is very unreliable this can prove frustrating - the application does have the feature to offset the bearing of the compass which can help, and doing the figure of 8 compass calibration can help as well. There are also user options for tweaking the smoothing of compass readings.
While using the camera view you don't need Internet access, but if you switch to the Google map view you'll need it for the maps.
The mountain peak database has been extracted from OpenStreetMap by Mayeul Kauffman - an amazing job, taking the number of peaks from hundreds to almost a million!
The app can be moved to the SD card if required, although the database is only about 10Mb, so it's not as large as you might imagine.
