The project is based on materials collected by the Institute of Russian History of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Russian Historical Society, and numerous museum and archive staff from across Russia. Thanks to multimedia technologies and the creative work of the project participants, historical information is presented visually, making its study engaging.
The app contains materials on more than 140 cities in Russia and Belarus, as well as their landmarks, relics, and historical figures.
The website catalog contains approximately 2,000 articles and videos. They can be filtered by region, year, and topic.
Using the search function, you can find the city you're interested in, see its location on the map, read an illustrated historical background, and access materials dedicated to its landmarks and notable residents.
The interactive map displays points of interest in each region. Clicking on them opens links to the corresponding articles in the website catalog.
The "Borders of Russia" map mode reflects the territorial changes of the Russian state throughout its history, from 862 to 2022. The timeline allows you to select the historical period of interest. Each year is accompanied by a brief historical summary with information about the ruler and important events that occurred during that time.
