This is perfgect for my purposes. The title says it all: simple. I wasn't looking for any "bells or whistles." I only wanted a very basic app for creating .txt files on my Android smartphone. Once I figured out how to attach files to the phone's email app I was happy (that issue was from my email app, not SimpleEditor. Any mistakes I make in a .txt file I plan to fix from my PC. Thank you for this app.

Igor — nice app, but one issue. Encoding is not automatically recognized, I have to manual select it every time I open a file. Auto detection of encoding is enabled in Settings. I'm using a .txt extension, but I don't see how that could be the problem.

Thanks for your feedback! Unfortunately, it is not possible to achieve a 100% result. To do this, the app must parse the entire file, which can be a long process for older Android devices. But even in this case, there may be errors. For example, some encodings have a similar character set (UTF-8 and US-ASCII for English).

Really simple text editor, no confusing proportional spacing, exactly what I want for very basic text editing. If I need anything more, I would have used Word.
