About this app

Australian Geology Travel Maps is a field app that displays the best available data from the government geological surveys in interactive maps created by Trilobite Solutions. It does not have any reliance on cell phone reception in the field, and uses GPS so your location is always marked on the map. Maps are downloaded to your phone when have an internet connection, and from that point on, you are independent of the internet.

A popular feature is the recording of the route that you have taken through the bush, or while driving to your work area. This runs in the background, even when your screen is blanked out. This is enabled with one tap, and the recording is stopped with one tap. Once completed, the recorded trail is plotted on your screen. There is also the option of the app speaking to you when you cross a geological boundary.

The simple geology maps are rich with contextual data - including shaded relief, roads, towns, tracks, rivers, lakes, geographic names, indigenous land, national parks & provincial parks.

App development, system maintenance and user support is fully-funded by subscriptions - there is no in-app advertising and your data is absolutely PRIVATE.

Subscription made! I just wanted to look before I subscribed but the app is so annoying with subscribe subscribe subscribe. each state has a separate subscription and the app itself, so to use aus wide would be huge subscription. Sorry dude not getting my credit details upfront without a simple look at the app! you should be more upfront with the charges especially when you are probably dragging info from government sources.

The 'App' subscription $11.99/year gives you geology, resource maps and data layers for ALL of Australia and NZ. There are also 4 specialist prospector subscriptions. All are documented in the Play Store - tap 'ABOUT THIS APP'. All subscriptions have a 1-WEEK FREE trial - ie. you have a full week to use the app before Google takes any payments.

This is one the worst apps ever designed. Links within links to video links just to know how to use it and then once you get it going you realise it's faulty and glitchy and kind of a waste of time when you have free geo data available on gov't websites plus detector maps. I think it's just pulling data from Google maps and geovic (for Victorian data). But it still forces you to download tonnes of that data (multiple GB). If it was free you'd accept it, but they're charging money!? Total trash.

There is a 1-week FREE trial, so why the anger? Just cancel the trial - tap 'MANAGE SUBSCRIPTIONS' in the app's menu. This is a FIELD APP so ALL MAPS & DATA LAYERS cover the ENTIRE STATE. For any state you can download ALL its maps/data to your phone, and have NO NEED FOR MOBILE RECEPTION. See #1 (overview) at http://trilobite.solutions/videos

Usefull app...BUT, possibly the most important feature, your position via GPS, is marked with a tiny blue circle, and your compass direction, is indicated by an even smaller triangle, which makes navigation extremely difficult, especially in sunny conditions where the screen is already hard to see. Either change the marker to something larger, or code an overlay to make it more visible please. It's a shame that something so basic can ruin an otherwise great app.

The blue circle is the standard system supplied by Google and cannot be modified. It is the same blue circle as in Google maps. If you tap the centre-map button (the round button on the right of the map view) then it will be in the centre of the map, making it easier to identify.
