[ About CMU Move & Health Connect Integration ]

CMU Mobile incorporates "CMU Move," an official university-sponsored physical activity and wellness program designed to encourage healthy lifestyles among students and staff. To accurately track fitness achievements and monitor mission progress, the app requests read access to Android Health Connect.

We strictly use Health Connect data to display personal fitness progress directly on the user's CMU Move dashboard. Below is how each requested data type is used within the feature:

* Steps / StepsCadence: Used to count daily steps and calculate progress toward step-based fitness missions.
* Distance: Used to measure walking and running distance for distance-based fitness challenges.
* ActiveCaloriesBurned: Used to measure and display calories burned during active exercise sessions.
* TotalCaloriesBurned: Used alongside active calories to show total daily energy expenditure for a complete physical activity overview.
* ExerciseSession: Crucial for calculating the total active exercise duration across all workout types (e.g., walking, running, cycling). This moving time metric is displayed directly in the UI to help users track active exercise time and distinguish it from sedentary time.

Data Privacy & Transparency:
All health data retrieved via Health Connect is used exclusively to visualize personal fitness metrics within the CMU Move feature. This data is handled with the highest level of privacy: it is never sold, never shared with advertisers, and never transferred to any third parties or used outside the university wellness program.
