Thanks for deleting my rental Rakuten....silly me did not read fine print but just maybe thought that if i rented a movie I may be able to use whenever over a month like google play and Amazon prime and it will be deleted 48hrs after watching... Not just delete after 48hrs rental regardless if you have watched it or not.
Saw glossy ad on tv. Downloaded app. Seems expensive. £5.99 just to watch a film? Who pays that? If this is really wuaki with a different name then not interested anyway.
Rakuten (Wuaki) did have lots of positives. A large catalogue, plenty of playback options, a relatively limited but improving range of UV titles, Chromecast, support staff who engaged with you, and they seemed keen on developing. It was the UV support that was absolutely key though. If a title doesn't come with the UV safety net then the chances are Google get my business unless there are ridiculously good deals to be had, so it was already Wuaki's weakness. So I was a bit surprised to discover UV support had been withdrawn a month or two after it happened and without so much as a courtesy email. So that leaves me with a handful of titles I am unlikely to be adding to too often.
Good service and well done Rakuten for having trailers which Blinkbox/TalkTalk don't. Chromecast slightly buggy, but minor issue really...casting a film for the kids, whenever my tablet goes back to Rakuten being in the foreground (e.g. when another app i'm using is closed) the video stutters. This said, that is a minor issue (when i'm watching the film myself i'm not messing with the tablet so never noticed!). Same or better prices compared to my other go to service (the horrendously named Talk Talk TV which used to be BlinkBox).
Films keep stalling when you play them, lots of stop start when watching.
Hate not having the opportunity to watch a movie in its original language.
Thanks for your reviews! We keep working to improve the app. If you find issues please contact us so we can investigate and help with it!
