Play erry day Great app, no lag, multi-player (local) option. Also an option to check ur statistics. I play on hard & have ended up with more doubles than the comp, though I know it feels unfair sometimes. It really doesn't cheat though. Paid for this version b/c of ads on the free one. Will consider getting other games from them, like euchre.
Does cheat At level 5 it throws an incredible amount of perfect rolls, getting the exact numbers on each die it needs. I have thrown pieces out just to see if they get hit and they almost always do, even if there is a 1-in-6 chance. Otherwise a great game.
Fun game but not random I like the game and play it frequently. I have played it on several devices at level 5 and the app stats always have shown after several hundred games that the digital opponent rolls doubles in excess of one percent more than the human. The probability that a truly random process would generate this dice roll outcome is microscopic. I think that the game designers have a superficial knowledge of random number generating algorithms. On the other hand, the machine opponent will often stupidly accept a double when it will likely loose that can give the human an edge greater than the non-random dice. I would give the game 5 stars if the dice were random and doubles weren't stupidly accepted.
Frustrating Whatever algorithm the developer claims to be using is rubbish. It should be impossible to be able to predict a "random" move so consistently....right??
Very entertaining, but computer gameplay flawed. I have played 20-30 games a day at Level 5 and it has improved my own understanding of the game and tactics considerably. I now win 15-game sets fairly consistently. The main problem is that particularly in end-play the AI is naive, and always makes the move that will move its rear-most pieces around the board, even when this removes any opportunity of turning the game around. Sometimes it will also reject an opportunity to remove an opposing piece in these circumstances.
Love it but it does cheat! I love this Backgammon game an it is definitely the best Backgammon game on Android. The Dev's maintain like crazy the Ai does not cheat... but it is inconceivable that it does not, there are just far to many doubles and lucky escapes, especially on the higher levels. I was just playing on Level 4 and had three of his stones on the bar and only a few points available on my home board... the Ai threw a double to get all 3 out and take one of my blots, and the next throw it picked off 2 more blots and then a further one on the next turn. Within 3 turns it had gone from having 3 stones on my bar to having 4 of my stones on its bar. This is just statistically unlikely. I have just finished another match where the Ai threw 3 high doubles in the last 4 rolls of the match! I am just bemused by the Dev's claim that the Ai does not cheat. Reply to Dec's reply: I have played backgammon all my life. I aware that sometimes the most amazing rolls occur, however... your Ai the "unlikely sequences" happen far too frequently and are a little far too amazing to be real. I have read the article and now your constant copypasta replies are annoying. I will change this review to 1* soon.
