Can't seem to get more advanced help option to work, otherwise good app. P.S. would love to see an english language version of Shogi! Edit: Thank you for your help and support. It's too bad about the Shogi game, but I can understand that the priority is with maintaining your existing game apps. Again, thank you!
Solid app; Some frustration with saved games All around a very good app. My one big complaint is how it handles saved games. What I really wish I could do is take a completed game that I played in "pro" mode, then go back and pick up the action part way through, but with hints and the other helps available in "casual" mode available. This would be a great way to learn, but for some reason the app does not allow this (even though it tells you up front that the stats don't count when you're playing from a saved game).
Fun chess game! Well worth the $1. It's not exactly flashy, but you can customize all aspects of the look/feel of the chessboard. Playing against the AI is fun but there seems to be a steep increase in difficulty between level 4-5! Well done and thank you.
Natural-feeling opponent, fun to play against. Comfortable low-strain chessboard options, too. No big AI quirks, so I find it quite a natural opponent, even if it IS inhumanly infallible...and inexorable...and ruthless. One odd thing in a game I recently played: the AI completed a queen-side castling (the first time I've seen it do one), but it did it by crossing a THREATENED square. [I didn't record the game, darn it, but the reply below shows that it was probably only the rook that was crossing. At least it's clear that people who know the rules better than I do are keeping an eye on things.]
Medium strength, highly inefficient engine, good UI. If you could replace Chess engine with Stockfish I would pay again for this app! I love Stockfish which is twice as deadly and many times faster to move, but I hate the complicated DroidFish UI in that app. I love this UI in this app but engine is slow and relatively weak. Drains battery with long move times on level 11 and 12.
Good AI - annoying UI It's VERY ANNOYING the tap-everywhere-show-the-menu at the end of the game. It must be redesigned... It's just annoying to death! Also... It's very annoying the save PGN default filename. US date format sucks. It's like writing minute:hour:second the time. Wrote to support, they insist, the default filename cannot be changed. It needs further investigation? What? Why? Please, yyyy-mm-dd is the de facto standard date fromat to have multiple files sorted in the right way
