I think this is better than most chess Apps. I've noticed that if you play the same level a few times the CPU is using the same move so it becomes predictable. I'm not a pro but I'd like to learn more moves. Can AI add a few more moves to very it? I personally prefer Chessmaster but I haven't seen an App so I feel this is the next best thing . The ads don't bother me as I understand that's how it's funded and so free to use.
If you are new to chess or a master -this program will give you a challenge. Very user friendly. I have used dozens of chess programs on pc's and on my phone, and still this is one of my favorites. If your a very exsperianced player -Playing at level 12 in 5min blitz, you have to use anti computer tactics and pawn fortresses to win. You can push the engine to the horizon effect. At this stage it can get it's self into problems and loose on time. But for me that is part of the fun. Fantastic!!!!
the ai at level 12 is very easy to beat for GM Magnus Carlsen. unlike this app play magnus can sacrifice pieces for positional advantage & can swindle pieces for material advantage. chess is all about search depth and evaluation. if you wan't other users to improve their chess skills then make a tactic puzzle, make a different playing style. example : positional, tactical and stratigic regardless of the difficulty. if combined then the difficulty could increase.
Playing at top level, pro mode I barely won few matches against computer from the day I install it, unlike similar apps where my winning ratio is much higher. Here it's difficult to escape from error coz it won't give you any second chance. However it works as ultra defensive conservative pattern with lack of bold and innovative moves. Its almost all the moves are predictable and very accurate. Thus increase your mental strength to sustain pressure for serious matches. However It seriously needed helpfull analytical buttons during the game.
Finding it excellent so far. Its play has certain quirks which I think I may in time learn to turn against it. The only improvement I can think of would be a 'set up position' feature, so that, for instance, I could have another go when I've thrown away a winning position.
The AI is great. The AD (Artificial Dumbness) needs work though. When playing at low levels it seems as if it will play great moves with a REALLY dumb move at a frequency dependent on level. It would be more realistic to have more consistent move quality.
