Drone Assist provides location-based information on areas of airspace to avoid or in which extreme caution should be exercised, as well as on ground hazards that may pose safety, security or privacy risks.

Many drone pilots don’t realise that there are rules, set by the UK Civil Aviation Authority, for where and how you can fly your drone. This app will help you to abide by those rules, providing a tool to assist you in enjoying flying your drone whilst protecting your safety and the safety of other airspace users.

Features:

View areas of controlled airspace, such as airfields and airports, where flying a drone could be hazardous or prohibited

View ground hazards, such as schools, overhead power lines and sports venues, flying close to which may raise security, privacy or safety concerns and could breach UK rules on drone flying

Easily connect to www.dronesafe.uk, which provides you with further information on the rules around drone flying in the UK, including the CAAs Dronecode, information on CAA-approved training courses and other useful resources.

Ratings and reviews

The road to hell is paved with good intentions. A nice splash screen tells me this app is coded for older versions of Android and may crash. Good start. Next up is giving up your inside leg measurement just to use the app, data mining from the off. The interface is clunky and really needs a rethink on UX/UI (User experience/interface). I want to increase my status from being branded clueless, careless or criminal, this software doesn't help one little bit. Barely 2 stars. Bring the app up to date please.

A bit helpful but not easy to use. Map information is helpful however, knowing the no-fly zones and warning areas etc. I don't know how to start a flight. I click on top button and it's not the right one, then the other. The flight report and area report buttons in the top app bar are side by side on the app bar and not clear what each is. Perhaps use one floating action button (FAB) to start a flight and one for advice/area reports. Also, wind forecasts would be fantastic! Happy to advise devs as I'm a fellow Android app developer

This stupid software does not allow to use it without giving away lots of your personal data. How weird is that. Uninstalling it right now (I don't live in UK). And continue to use AirMap which is much more user-friendly. And btw, you don't create an account you have to force close the app or restart the phone because the back button does not work.
