Ratings and reviews

An honest review Some house keeping issues on arrival, but nothing that we could not rectify, but disappointing all the same. The cottage was beautiful but some of the furniture needs replacing and some areas need some TLC. I would have preferred to find, milk on arrival along with other little complimentary items mentioned when the booking was made. The location is perfectly situated and only a 10 minute walk into Hathersage where there are loads on independent deli's, restaurants, inns etc.

Had a lovely stay at Kennels Cottage, despite having sprained my knee whilst in Caithness the previous week. The cottage is in a perfect location for exploring the Borders. It is well equipped and comfortable. The one drawback is the sloping ceilings in the bedrooms. I had to be very careful, and only bashed my head twice! There is a short walk to the pub which provides excellent food.

We had an enjoyable break using the facilities and restful surroundings of the old post office. We were most comfortable and found the quirky nature of the actual building and its furnishings and fittings interesting. For 2 of us plus the dogs, there was more than adequate space. The views from the rear decking was stunning. The ability to park in front was useful. By far the greatest advantage was the locality and the closeness to the attractions we wanted to visit.
