So Bad! Unbelievably in 2014, the app is a nightmare in android, the iOS version works flawlessly. Worse is the neglect it receives from its developers, which does not allow us to enjoy such a world class product just because we have an android device. Would definitely come back for it , if the developers could make it smooth like ios. Till then, dasvidanya!
Doesn't work with Lollipop on my Nexus 7 2013 For goodness sake. I know everyone in the Economist office uses iOS but wake up to Android..... Issues just don't load. They pause at 100% indefinitely. This is on a standard Nexus!!! It would be better to have nothing rather than a buggy insult.
After about Five Months… …this app has finally been made to work w/ the latest version of Android. If this program were associated w/ a different publisher, & the Economist were to write of it, then there'd be a lot of “tut tut”, w/ extended pinkie, about the protracted failure to make it compatible w/ KitKat devices. And, in the context of that failure, the name “Intelligent Life” would be mocked. Now we are back to the less dire problems of unresizable pages, sneak-pausing of downloads, & perverted use of the word “archive”.
Still doesn't work on Nexus 7, Android 4.4.4 Like another user, mine gets stuck downloading an issue. This is after a long slow download of a 330 mb issue on an otherwise very fast connection. The related app works fine on my galaxy Note 3, and I know the publication is wonderful. But The Economist seems to have long lasting trouble with its apps--this reminds me of the enduring problems several years ago with the Android app for the Economist itself.
Works but long download time Thank you for fixing the app. I can now open it. But it still takes me a very long time to download an issue. Zinio used to be like this but they got better. Please continue to update.
Hard to like if it doesn't work The app got stuck on downloading an issue and never recovered.
