Terrible login experience. I've never been able to log in. It takes me to a browser to log in, which is fine. Then once I've done that returns me to the app to sign in with my pass code. Then it takes me back to the browser "tax.service.gov.uk/sso/session..." , which never loads, and then back to the app and asks me to enter my pass code again. All a vicious circle. Tried multiple browsers. Nothing.

This App has its clumsy elements and HM Revenue & Customs isn't exactly prompt about updating your tax record, but this does make it a little easier to see where you stand and get some help, at least. Some of the sections open Web Pages while others have the data within the App, so it's a bit disjointed. the Communications tab at the bottom has three different types of communication each with its own sub-section but this isn't much of an issue in practice.

Inconsistent Switches to browser operation in part. I though it was an App. The App does not remember pin or biometric choices. So far the app's a waste of time. Old fashioned having to still use password rather than passcodes and/or biometrics. It's much simpler using the website.

What’s new

This release adds your National Insurance number to the homepage to save you time.

In Self Assessment, we have added information about third-party payment provider, Ecospend. This will help users make secure payments with increased confidence.

We have also further improved the tax calculator design to assist users.
