Months after being launched, this app finally is as good as the previous version that was shutdown in 2016. The interactive map is now simple and detailed, with the graphics and day details much more sophisticated and neat to read and absorb. My biggest gripe of having black clouds has also been finally changed!! Thank you to the devs!

There have been improvements to content (pressure charts) and the vibrate has been removed from the rain radar view - which is great. However, the overall UI style is still really poor, awkward to use, and results in me not using this app as my primary weather app. In particular the "tabbed" style is really awkward, especially when coupled with very low contrast. Wasted space (excessive white space) results in making it hard to see data at a glance, since scrolling is required (and that's awkward). I wish the UI matched the content.

Apparently, this app is supposed to work on tabs. Wrong, it still isn't compatible with my device! Now the old app is no longer available, I've reduced the rating to 1 star, though I feel it should be a minus figure. There's too much information and too much having to scroll to get a clear indication of what weather to expect. I prefer the old app, it was concise enough for my needs. No one is listening.
Moved up to four stars now that you have a daily view widget, though I would prefer that to display temperatures as well. I will award the final star for missing features like long-term forecast.

I loved the previous version of this app, but this new version now doesn't display any information unless you have you location enabled. I don't keep my location enabled 24/7, so this app is now just a blank white box taking up space on my phone. I've uninstalled it and gone with the BBC Weather app, which displays the weather all the time, even if my location isn't on, just like this app used to do. In response to the Met Office app developer's comment below, I went back into the app and tapped the "list" button (the arrow with the lines beside it, top right corner) and saved my city and switched off "current location". I moved my saved city to the top of the list and saved and exited. However, after a couple of minutes, the app still went blank and asked me to activate location. Oh well, I tried :-(

Can't really see much in the way of a design change with the new update. I really wish they would change the weather symbols for something not so childish, after all this is THE Met Office and needs to appear more professional.

Thank you for your feedback. We are currently considering some improvements, in line with several of the items you mention, for future releases. Apparently, this app is supposed to work on tabs. Wrong, it still isn't compatible with my device! Now the old app is no longer available, I've reduced the rating to 1 star, though I feel it should be a minus figure. We believe we have fixed the issue you were experiencing with regard to downloading the app on your tablet. Please try again and if the issue persists please let us know at enquiries@metoffice.gov.uk and we will investigate further. Moved up to four stars now that you have a daily view widget, though I would prefer that to display temperatures as well. I will award the final star for missing features like long-term forecast.

Thank you for your feedback. I am pleased to say we are currently working on this and will be providing a daily forecast view in one of the next releases. Oh well, I tried :-(
Met Office 13 July 2017
You can save your favourite locations to the front screen by searching for a location using the search bar and then selecting 'save' (top right corner) on the following page. You can disable the current location card on the front screen by selecting the list icon (top right). Can't really see much in the way of a design change with the new update. I really wish they would change the weather symbols for something not so childish, after all this is THE Met Office and needs to appear more professional.
The weather app is perfect with clear signs of pollen levels, pollution levels, warnings about any possible weather alerts in your area and is really easy and simple to use. My only issue is that there doesn't seem to be a widget option so you have to go to the app to keep up to date with the weather as opposed to having it directly on the screen like other apps
Latest update has improved the overall look. Would be nice if the forecast data could be updated quicker because as it stands it's normally one or two hours old so the accuracy has been poor recently, especially in NE England where the weather can change quickly. Google weather seems to manage with quick forecast changes. Extra features like dark theme, status bar temp readings, more choice of widgets would be good additions.
Met Office 23 January 2017
Thank you for your feedback. There is an update to the radar map coming very soon which includes the ability to zoom. It's pretty. Slow to load initially. It isn't immediately obvious how to get to the detailed view (tap on the small forecast area). Or other report details. Eg where are govt warnings now? No landscape mode. Lacks ability to stretch to increase font, display size and fingertip size. I can barely see fonts even with glasses. You need to fix accessibility today. I like the sliding panel, pollen and uv info. Linked alexa on amazon is awful UI. Repetition!
Met Office 17 July 2017
Hi Ann, severe weather warnings show on both the summary and details screens when they affect your current location or one that you have saved. You can also view warnings across the UK on the map by selecting warnings via the layers icon (bottom left). We are currently working to improve accessibility and looking to add landscape in the future. Is good and clear, showing expected weather throughout the day with temperature and probability of rain. Would be better if it defaulted to the local page rather than to a messy home page with video links and other stuff on it. Advertisements are discrete.
Was working really well, no just says no data on my locations. Checked all my settings and location services are all on and set to high accuracy. Shame cause it was good

Hi Kieran,
Sorry to hear you're having issues. Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app?
If you could give this a go, then if you continue to experience the same problem, get in touch with us on enquiries@metoffice.gov.uk and we can investigate the issue for you. The only weather forecast worth looking at for the UK. Anyone with the default accuweather app you tend to get on phones as standard might as well be looking at random numbers. App is decent and stable. Thanks for updating cloud icon colours, now it is perfect.
Met Office 7 June 2017
Thanks for your feedback. We are working on re-introducing the white cloud in the app along with some background colour changes to meet contrast requirements and it's all coming very soon. Clean, crisp and does exactly what it says it'll do. There are a few features missing such as sharing weather reports, quite useful if you're planning an event with other people.
I rely on the local weather forecasts for my fishing trips and find them very reliable, critically it also shows wind gusts, unlike mosts apps. It's also easy to read, unlike most apps.
Now an excellent app. The recent design and icon update, although quite subtle, has added a much more appealing look to the app. The icons are also a lot clearer and easier on the eye. Well done.
Met Office 12 June 2017
Thank you for your feedback. We agree the app needs more colour and are currently working on some design updates to address this, which will be coming soon. App itself is great, but it's let down by the widgets. All the same style. Not very clear icons on a white background. See BBC weather widgets for great design.
So after 7 months this app isn't much better , it's still too clinical , the little bit of added colour isn't enough to brighten it , I'm still wishing we had the old app !!
Not as visually clear as it could be perhaps? (The figures & graphics don't stand out). Otherwise it's great.
No landscape mode for tablets. Not everyone has an iPad. The app looks ridiculous on a 10.1" tablet. Uninstalled until this is addressed.
Met Office 17 July 2017
Just to let you know we are planning to add landscape mode in the future so hope you will give it another try at this time. Thanks for the feedback. I use it a lot. Basically - the weather will do what it's going to do which, in my opinion, is generally better than what the weather forecasters and the apps predict. I spend quite a bit of time outside as I am a keen gardener : )
Needs a dark theme, change layout, old version more pleasing to the eye, can't resize anymore. Please change. ReRated Getting Better all the time
Great app, does what it should and never locks up. The forcast is pretty accurate and its easy to navigate around. I have used other apps but keep coming back to this one.
Like the alerts. More info than BBC which I used to use. There are additional but they are not intrusive.
Need a dark interface particularly on home screen widget it's ghastly and childish and amateur
Good app, use the rainfall map the most, but when there is heavy rain over a large area the uk coast outline disappears behind the rain colours . It makes it very difficult to see or work out your location in relation to it.
I dont understand why this app isnt the same layout as the public weather forecast on the website as the layout is much better. I want to see wind every hour so I just use the web page.
Met Office 17 July 2017
Thank you for your feedback. The app currently includes hourly wind speed, direction and gusts under the forecast table on the details screen. However, we are currently working on improving the wind element to enable you to view it across a timeline. This should be coming in our next release. With the latest update this app is great! It has almost everything you want from a weather app, including radar maps. Some of the layout options need tweaking but so far I can't fault the improvements
I was about to go ad free until I noticed the cost had gone up from £1.99 to £2.99.
Took a while to get to new App, but now almost like it as much as the old one.
Play store says it is not compatible with my Hudl 2. Manually installed the APK and it runs fine.
Good combination of place specific weather, radar for 24hrs, synoptic charts. Would be even better if met office's mountain weather data, specifically summit forecasts was included.
This was a five ***** App. But then it's features were "updated" and advertising added. The met office should relist the add free and more user friendly version.
Met Office 10 July 2017
The Met Office app carries advertising because we are a UK Government Trading Fund and are tasked with developing commercial revenue so that the funds can be reinvested back into the app. We offer the ability to remove advertising for a small fee. I like the global coverage and the local rain radar - very useful. Would like a satellite view showing development and progress of weather systems in the N Atlantic (and similar for the Mediterranean, if possible.)
Finally feels like a polished product, especially as the cloud icons are now much better and I have paid for this as it's an essential tool in my life.
Since the latest update I cannot get the app to work which is a shame because it is usually very accurate and a very good app.
Met Office 11 July 2017
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Please contact us at enquiries@metoffice.gov.uk and we will look into this for you. Nice app and it's the Met Office, so as close to likely as a forecast can be in our wet very weather variable little island!
This app is accessing the clipboard, so far during my use is hasn't asked me when it did it and I see not reason for it accessing the clipboard
Great app , I live in north Devon apart from a few times this weather forecast has been pretty much spot on.
Fantastic update, colours for clouds now much much better, I use every day as the weather reports are much more accurate than other apps!! Well done!!!
