Started off brilliant but for the last 3 weeks the weather has been pretty much the opposite of what's been displayed on the app. Like right now as I'm writing this. App says sun with a little cloud but actually its a full on torrential rain. Lucky me and my son didn't leave the house early for his appointment otherwise we would be absolutely soaked.
The Met Office knows our weather better than anyone and I find this very accurate and works a treat! Since the latest update, location has improved significantly! I love the clean look of the interface and it works very smoothly with no lag whatsoever and I only have a basic budget mobile! I paid for the no ad version and find it great value!
The UK rainfall animated map shows a barely visible purple shadow denoting the rain. It is next to useless. The weather videos used to work, now they don't. Hopeless app from the major UK weather provider. Better off with a pine cone on a piece of string!
I can't claim to be the world's foremost designer of user interfaces but I do recognise a bloody awful one when I see it. Lots of independently scrolling horizontal sections instead of one synchronised table with all of the details. The most bizarre aspect is the way that the first block will scroll to previous or next day but the others don't. On top of this complexity are the section tabs to display different sets of data within the block. Actually I know why they app seems hell bent on spreading the data over as big an area as possible; it's so they can stick an advert in the middle of it all. The only saving grace is the rainfall map which is brilliant and far better executed than the web page equivalent.
A brilliant app with more detailed information for weather geeks like me. Good app like the old was awesome does need a little tidy up on presentation and allow user selection of information they want to see in one place than scattered around. Glad it came back.
Although I feel the Old version was more graphic, concise and relevant, I see there have been improvments and therefore I increased the stars from 1 to 4. This new version looks like a copy of BBC weather app ( I have witnessed BBC deliberately lied on weather forecast for example to discourage students from demonstrating central London in 2011 when Sky News was showing Live that it was sunny in the same region). I loved the simplicity and data of the old one specially the Rain Radar Maps and sunset and sunrise times. Met Office App was unique and in its new shape looks like just another app among the many. I think they did this new version just to have more space for advertisement.
