About this app

The NHS COVID-19 app is the official contact tracing app for England and Wales and is one of the fastest ways of knowing if you’re at risk from COVID-19. For your vaccination status (England only) use the separate NHS app, go to www.nhs.uk/app

COVID-19 has not gone away, so it’s important to remember the actions you can take to keep yourself and others safe. Everybody needs to continue to act carefully and remain cautious.

Download the app to protect yourself and loved ones.

The app uses proven privacy software developed by Apple and Google, designed so that nobody will know who or where you are. You can delete your data, or the app, at any time.

The NHS COVID-19 app features:

Alerts: Find out when you’ve been near other app users who have since tested positive for coronavirus.

Latest information: Find out the latest COVID-19 guidance and know the level of coronavirus risk in your local area.

Symptoms: Check if you have coronavirus symptoms and see if you need to order a test.

Test: Register your results if you test positive.

Available in English, Welsh, Arabic (Modern Standard), Bengali, Chinese (Simplified), Gujarati, Polish, Punjabi (Gurmukhi script), Romanian, Somali, Turkish and Urdu.

The app can be used when travelling across England, Wales, Northern Ireland, Jersey and Gibraltar, detecting contact tracing app users (regardless of them using different official apps), and alerting them if they have been in contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 from a PCR test.

The app has been built in collaboration with some of the most innovative organisations in the world. We have worked with medical experts, privacy groups, at-risk communities and we’ve shared knowledge with the teams working on similar apps in many countries.

Protect your loved ones. Please download the app and keep it up to date.

The app is UKCA marked as Class I medical device in the United Kingdom and developed in compliance with Medical Devices Regulations 2002 (SI 2002 No 618, as amended).

Works fine (to my knowledge) to alert you to contacts coming down with covid. Very bare bones though. Would be helpful to have integrated data on cases in the burrough (or area in the UK) that you need to register to use the app (or just the ability to see data from particular regions), to integrate the covid pass and to display the high level government guidance i.e. to make it a single app for all things covid related

Hello, Thank you for your valuable feedback. The NHS COVID-19 App is a contact tracing app which doesn't hold any personal details, and all app users are anonymous. See link: https://faq.covid19.nhs.uk/article/KA-01151/en-us. We’re always working hard to improve the app. You can find out more information about the app here: https://covid19.nhs.uk/

Absolute rubbish. Every time it is opened it requires me to turn on locations and bluetooth, even tho I have never used bluetooth with it. I just turn on blue tooth and then kill it. I got an alert message tonight, clicked on it, had to turn on locations, bluetooth, then...no message. Screw you. NHS app. This is a moldy POS. They couldn't do any better? THIS is what track & trace depends upon? Gimme a break.

Good. Doing the proper way. 1 problem for me ...Do not like if I'm driving my vehicle and I use my Bluetooth for music that I could be stuck in traffic next to another vehicle carrying a COVID positive person ( who was genuine and reported the virus and tested positive)( I realise this is down to me not pausing the app it's just always switched on ) and there's a ping , COVID is a much bigger problem but all the information and the NHS app are very simple guidelines. easy , simple and safe.
