Best news app you can get Besides being the best app, you will always know what is going on around you maybe as it's happening or minutes after. I have been a reporter for 5 years and is a great "hobbie". Yes the app will drain your battery because it uses data or wifi to collect info. If you take pictures at incidents you can route directions from the app as well. Some minor bugs but as always, you can always squash them quick. It is free to download but you must either pay for the service or become a reporter.
BNN is a MUST HAVE app.... If you want NEWS before its "News." Fire, EMS & Police incidents are posted minutes after being dispatched to emergency responders. Developer is responsive to issues (contacted me directly on a previous issue.) BNN is a aware of Stratosphere issue and is actively working on a fix (as of 5/17/13). My previous "unkind" comments are retracted with my apologies to BNN (a top-shelf organization.) If you monitor scanner traffic contact them to become a reporter.
A Little Disappointed..... I'm a long-time subscriber to BNN, and their service is great. However, the app isn't as efficient as getting the incidents over your phone via text messaging. The idea of getting your jobs like a "beeper," with a tone going off and the job appearing on your screen, seems to be missing. You have to essentially 'refresh' the app to bring up jobs. Otherwise, it's like refreshing the 'Drudge Report' during the day to get the latest headlines. Some people may like that, if they don't respond or act on a job coming in, and just want to know what's going on. But it's not good for me. The other thing is the inability to delete individual jobs from your screen. I've been told that the only way to delete one specific job (as opposed to all of them you receive over a period of time, i.e. "delete all") is to delete it on the screen, then log out from the app, and boot it back up again. Really not worth the effort for just one job. The ability to send and view pictures of incidents is not all that important to me, as I can see them by logging into the BNN service and view them there. With that, I will be reverting back to getting my incidents over the phone as text messages.
Great app for first responders, law enforcement and fire fighter around the world
