Light-weight, easy to use and fast.

No logs: to protect our users, we do not require registration or login or personal information to use Ultrasurf, and we do not keep access logs.

Kill Switch: application level Kill Switch is always on for Ultrasurf VPN 2.2.9 or later. In case Ultrasurf VPN connection is lost, no internet connection will be available to avoid potential leaks, unless the user manually switch off Ultrasurf VPN. If Ultrasurf VPN is "killed" or the Android system VPN is turn off, internet connection will resume. To prevent that, for Android 7 or later, you can enable system level kill switch by going to Settings -> Connections -> VPN -> Ultrasurf settings (gear) -> turn on both Always-on VPN and Block connections without VPN.

Ultrasurf is one of the most popular tools that helps millions of people around the world bypass internet censorship securely and freely. Ultrasurf is a 100% free VPN that can be left on 24/7 with an unlimited number of devices. There are certainly better ones if the objective is to “trick” services like Netflix into detecting a region outside one's own market. However, if the goal is to simply mask identity (IP address) for safer browsing, with no advertisements this can’t be beat.

I like that it's simple, no frills and ad-free (in app, it does a one-time launch to browser of a site full of ads though). It's also nostalgic for me since I used this a lot at my office desktop more than a decade ago. However, the lack of location choices is a huge minus points for me since I tend to use VPNs to access sites/apps exclusively available to certain countries not just the US (i.e. Japan, UK, NZ, etc.).

This had been a very reliable VPN. Not a particularly the fastest however reliable. Since about New Year it just won't connect from behind the great firewall. I hope you can rectify the problem.
