About this app

People living on the streets face many hardships - especially in winter when it is cold. Have you ever seen homeless people in Vienna who need support? Now you can easily help with your smartphone during the winter months from November to April.

With the cold app of the Vienna Social Fund (FSW), you can request social work for homeless people on the fly - without waiting for the social workers to arrive. Please leave the on-site contact to the experienced experts: They will speak to the people affected and help according to the individual situation, e.g. B. with sleeping bags, advice or mediation of warm sleeping places.

Attention: This app does not provide emergency help - if it is an emergency, please call the rescue service!

That's how it's done:

Step 1: Who Needs Help?

Indicate who you saw: was it just one person or a group? Were they women, men or were there children? This information is important so that the street social work team can optimally prepare for the meeting. By entering the date and time of your observation, you make it possible to use it as soon as possible.

Step 2: Where is the help needed?

Click on the Vienna map to mark the whereabouts of the person(s). If you use the blue location icon in the top left, your current location will be marked. In the field below you can enter additional information - only about where you are - such as B. the exact address and / or a more detailed description of the place, z. e.g. “in the entrance of the house”. This helps the street social workers to find those affected quickly.

Step 3: State of the person

What was your impression of the person you saw? What belongings were there? With the help of your assessment of the person's condition, the social worker team can prepare themselves optimally and urgently needed things, such as e.g. B. Bring winter clothing to the site. If you are unable to provide any information, select "don't know".

Step 4: Contact for queries

Almost there! Before sending, you can optionally enter your telephone number and e-mail address. This is helpful because you can be reached by the street social work team in case of questions.

Information on data processing when using the KälteApp can be found in the data protection declaration (https://www.obdach.wien/p/datenschutz). If you activate "Remember contact details for next time", you do not have to fill in these details again if you contact the street workers again.

The KälteApp is operated by the Vienna Social Fund (FSW). The FSW plans, arranges and promotes social services on behalf of the City of Vienna.
