Paper is still way better than this. Now gives blank screen most times when one taps on headline/lead snippet. Still demands portrait view only; tech support suggested, months ago, wait for next version (How long?) Web version would be fine if it worked w/o internet, e.g., on plane and in tunnels. This app needs much work, is a blot on an otherwise fine organization.
Login sucks..!! He app doesn't remember login.. for every article I have to login again and again. What a nut head decided to do so.. or where is the quality control. Should there not be a better quality app as well for paid subscription?
Will keep asking you to login This is a painful app. Will keep asking you to login every time and if you are one of those folks that has long usernames and long passwords, you will spend more time typing than reading. Who decided to not store the username? Want to nominate WSJ app login for a usability case study. Usability educators may contact me for comments, interviews, user stories, etc. This definitely meets the criteria.
Fix notifications Every time there's a story that hits my notifications, I tap on it, the app opens and brings me to the regular headlines. Where's the story I clicked on, and why didn't it immediately take me to that article? I shouldn't have to search for it after clicking on it. What gives? Nexus 5 running 5.1.1
Still pretty crappy While the app is much improved from what it was, it's still frustrating to use offline. Here is why. This morning I received a notification that "Today's paper had been downloaded". I get on the subway, open the app and it won't load the paper. It freezes on the splash screen. Why? Because it is trying to connect with the internet. To do what exactly??? Hey WSJ programmers stop writing lousy code. Start doing some field tests. Use it like a real person before you release it.
Doesn't work really Does't work very well at all on my Samsung galaxy tab. Touching articles brings up blank screens. Navigation doesn't work properly. Can't rotate to landscape. Have deleted cache and reinstalled multiple times. At least it's consistent. My paper version works very well and I'll stick with that.
6/16 Update: Fixed memory issue.
