About this app

This is the ad-free version of Raindar II.

Raindar II is an updated recreation of an Android app that worked up to Android 9 but hasn't been updated since 2013. Raindar II aims to support most features of the old app and works on Android 4.4 through the latest version of Android (Android 12).

Going somewhere and you're not sure if you need to bring your umbrella? Check Raindar II! Raindar II displays animated Doppler radar images on your Google Map. When you start Raindar II it automatically focuses on your location so you can quickly see if there is precipitation coming your way.

Raindar II works out of the box but has many configuration options. Raindar II only works for locations around the world.

Color:
- green/yellow/red is rain
- blue/white is snow

On Google TV:
- Use the D-pad for navigate up/down/left/right
- Use the media forward/back or next/previous buttons to zoom in and out

don't buy this app until it gets better. they switched radar providers. they need to find something better it's awful. I wouldn't have bought it with this resolution. I can barely tell if it's raining. KTRE weather app is much better and it's free. The image shown isn't what it looks like. It shows ice where there's none. I read your answer. Find a better provider. Speed is useless if it's sub standard quality such as is the case. The light blue pixels, what are they supposed to indicate.

Hi. Apologies, I had to switch radar providers. The old provider was ending their support for radar imagery. The new provider doesn't offer a smoothing option. The new provider offers updates every 5 minutes, which is an improvement of the old provider, which only updated every 10 minutes. We lose smoothing but we gain some speed.

Oops... sorry, I'm seeing the developer's response a little late. Editing my review. The radar animation is working fine now. 5 stars! [Here is what I said originally: "I was glad to be able to purchase this version, to get rid of ads. But the animation does not work smoothly. It flashes, on-off-on..." ] So it's fixed now, working as it should.

Updating my review. Still a great app, but this winter the snow is showing as rain color wise. I seem to recall this starting last year. a week ago we had 9" of snow. In the heavier bands, it would show greens, indicating rain, but that was incorrect. Right now, we have snow moving into Wisconsin. It's 20° F, but it's showing green.
