Fixlocal is a citizen-driven service by Heartlines – the Centre for Values Promotion – helping South Africans fix local challenges. Accessible via web and WhatsApp, with a mobile app in development, Fixlocal empowers people to report, escalate, or solve problems in their communities, fostering active citizen engagement for a more prosperous and equitable society.

Features:

Report local issues: Leaking sewage, potholes, broken streetlights, and more. Geolocation links you to municipal contacts and reporting processes.

Escalate problems: Learn best practices if issues aren’t resolved, including contacting ward councilors, political parties, or mobilising your community peacefully.

Fix it yourself: Guidelines for safely and legally addressing problems directly.

Inspiring stories: Discover examples of citizens and authorities successfully tackling local challenges.

Impact: Fixlocal helps communities organise, hold authorities accountable, and take action where possible, fostering civic participation across cities, townships, peri-urban areas, and small towns.
